we are going to have a bigger Christmas tree than I've ever had before this year - 6-7ft. How many fairy lights do I need for it to look sparkly but not OTT? Websites (mainly american) seem to recommend 100 per 1ft of tree but that sounds excessive to me. Also am I better off getting LED lights to save electricity? I'd like soft white rather than blue white if possible. Any recommendations for good value LED lights? I don't want any fancy shapes just plain lights that can be wrapped around the tree indoors.

sainsburys have half price lights at the moment. I bought 40 normal coloured lights for £2 - 2 boxes of those would be fine I'd of thought.

My dh is into led lights but they were £8-10 half price and figured it would be a while before my £2 lights spent that much in electricity.
