I am struggling to find any gifts for my 13 year old son for Christmas this year, we don't want to buy him computer games as he would spend all day on the either the Wii or DS. Any ideas would be appreciated!

I gave a 13yo boy an electronics construction kit to make some weird 'critters' that crawled around the floor and climbed soft furnishings. He liked it. Unfortunately the shop where I got it has closed down, and I don't at all remember what it was called! Possibly from the Science Museum range?

What about a juggling set? That's another thing that this particular boy had.

Where are you lumpsdumps?
I've just been to the Science Museum gift shop for my 14 year old nephew, and the guy in there was very helpful. I got a mystery UFO thingy - the boy can make it fly and nobody can see how (only a tenner). He also showed me some other stuff, like a whirring ball thing which builds up muscles in your forearms (apparently boys of that age need this! ) and remote control helicopters and suchlike. He didn't show me the more expensive stuff, but he was on a role bless him, he soo wanted to!!

sainsburys sells science musuem stuff.

Am in Warrington, I did think about some science museum stuff of him today actually, will have to have a look in Sainsburys for something. Prettycandles, a juggling set wouldn't be a good idea as DS has dsypraxia so he would struggle with them! Bless him and he expressed a want for a set awhile ago. Construction set also sounds like a good idea. Keep them coming they are much appreciated.

Have bought my 13 year old muscle ball thingy too.

He really wanted 20q, remote control ferrari, top gear book and stig tshirt, smellies (Think he is getting to that age!!), weights and nintendo ds.

Have also been trying to avoid games as we cannot get any sense out of him at the best of times.

DH ordered him an ice cream football off of Firebox that looks good fun!!
