I have been purposefully avoiding the Nintendo/XBox/Wii type things until he is 8. He has more lego than space to keep it and loads of board games.

So, I seem like a hopeless mother, but wondered what the other mners with 7yr olds are doing.

Well I'm getting my 7 year old nephew a new bike. Second hand actually but new to him.

snice · 26/11/2008 19:13

How about walkie talkies or a remote control plane or a stunt kite?

Ivykaty44 · 26/11/2008 19:14

a wind tunnel flight

wildstrawberry · 26/11/2008 19:28

Thanks - that was quick!

He had a bike last Christmas and an uncle gave him walkie talkies on a random visit. Will look into a remote control plane or a kite. Intrigued by a wind tunnel flight - must investigate further for DH!!

Books. You can never have too many of them.

Model kit, build something?
Micromachines.
Magazine subscription (NG Kids, Dinomite, Beano, Sponge-Bob, etc.)

We got DD a tool box last xmas (when she was 5), we are slowly filling it with real, but small, tools. She loves having her own tools to make things with. The biggest hits so far have been a small vice with a built in clamp which attaches to a table and a hand drill. She has already asked Santa for more nails and screws in her stocking. . .
Other alternative if you run to it is a nice 'proper' desk with chair (not too pricey from MFI or similar).

RetiredGoth2 · 26/11/2008 20:33

...what about a goat? Or a midwifery set??

Ivykaty44 · 26/11/2008 22:15

what does a midwifery set consist? Is it expensive and where do i get one?

serin · 26/11/2008 22:46

Midwifery set could lead to an interesting line of questioning LOL!!

Best to stick with a bog, boys love toilets.

Or give him a voucher to go fly a raptor.
