So do I tell BIL and risk embarrassing DH?

BIL buys DH a Jazz compilation every year for xmas and b'day - we have to buy him exactely what he wants and his wife and kid - but DH hates jazz - all CDs are still in cellophane in CD cabinet and we are of course looking forward to receiving another one soon.

Last night I told DH that I would be telling his brother that he doesn;t even like jazz and I would be wrapping them up one by one and returning them to him as gifts for the next 20 or so years. He has forbade me from doing so or even saying that he doesn;t like jazz.

WWYD?

His brother and I aren't best of friends by the way and the last CD that he gave DH was a freebie from the newspaper which I think stinks.

So do I yell at him MrCastafiore Hates Jazz or just keep my big mouth shut?

I would try and stay positive and suggest an alternative: MrCastafiore would love X cd this year.

moondog · 25/11/2008 15:10

Hilarious
Tell him

We all (God knows why) though French bil loved whiskey and got him a nice bottle every year for years. About 3 years ago he admitted he can't abide it. How we chortled.

MadameCastafiore · 25/11/2008 15:11

God who are you Moondog - it is French BIL we are talking about here too!

Er.....no.

stillstanding · 25/11/2008 15:17

You say that you have to buy your BIL exactly what he wants. How does that work? Does he email you a list? If so just respond in kind. Simple, no?

ledodgy · 25/11/2008 15:18

Why don't you swap your dh's Jazz cds with Moondog's very lovely french uncle for his whisky assuming he likes Jazz.

ledodgy · 25/11/2008 15:18

*BIL I mean not uncle!

choosyfloosy · 25/11/2008 15:23

If your Dh has asked you not to, then don't. I would sell them, or at least pack them in the attic, but recognise this is not civilised.

Fiveplusbump · 25/11/2008 15:27

I have an R&B classics I got free in a newspaper last year ,I will happily send it along so you can give it to your BIL .

I farking hate jazz it actually makes me shudder.

MadameCastafiore · 25/11/2008 18:33

Ooohhh what a good idea - swap with Moondog or get Ebaying!

DesperateHousewifeToo · 25/11/2008 18:50

You don't need to tell him your dh does not like jazz.

Just email with your present list. You could just say that you have so many jazz cd's that you do not need anymore.

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 25/11/2008 18:50

would say however he informs you of his present desires I would reply in kind as he obviuosly feels this is socilly acceptable!!

solidgoldbrass · 25/11/2008 18:51

IF your DH isn't bothered, why is it bothering you? Just ebay the things and don't worry about it.
