Have no idea for this year (except for some cufflinks bought from my friend who makes jewellery).

Previous triumphs have included

Swiss Army knife
Wind-up radio
Wind-up torch
Interesting little box to keep cufflinks in
My own origami box to keep cufflinks in (can you spot a theme here?)
Dangerous Book For Boys
Oak-handled spade for allotment (which I later lost )

wedding ring

i told him today, after i noticed our recycle bin had been stolen becuase t wasn'tbrought in, and out normal bin full, becuase it wasn't taken out - that i am going to have it engraved with "don't forget bin day"

he said " don't you fucking dare!"

triggerfish · 26/11/2008 01:31

my friend and I were discussing budget presents and came up with the idea of making tokens that can be cashed in at any time - such as washing up, cooked meal, a date!! We thought that this way you wouldn't end up spending loads of money on rubbish just so they can open a present. We also think it would be very funny to put expiry dates on the back (in very small print) - just like all those tesco vouchers that have gone out of date when you go to use them!!

vacaloca · 26/11/2008 09:18

pmsl @ custardo. Almost worth getting married again just so I can do that.

Lizzylou · 26/11/2008 09:24

So far just a Benedict Allen DVD (he has has one of these the last few Christmases/Birthdays, I think he now has em all, so heaven knows what I'll do next year), which he asked for as he aspires to be a Gentleman Explorer
Don't know what else, will scan thread for inspiration.

Lizzylou · 26/11/2008 10:41

Have just got him a remote control helicopter as well,so feel a bit better now!

Rhubarb · 26/11/2008 13:15

Great ideas these! I know there is a band he really really loves, but I loathe! They're not a popular band however but I shall see where they are playing and if I can get him some tickets.

I have just been shopping on my lunch and bought DP some skincare stuff from boots No 7. It's 3 for 2 at the moment and you get a free gift so I got 6 items and the free mens gift for 27 quid which looks nice when it's wrapped in cellophane like they did it. would never have thought of buying it that way otherwise.

would also be a nice idea for a female i think while they're doing the offer.

not sure what else i'll get him but not spending much more as we're skint.

glastochick · 26/11/2008 15:41

DH is getting...

DS Lite and the Inspector Layton game,
Family Ski for the Wii,
an Ipod thingy that means he can listen to the radio on it if he wants to,
Old fashioned sweets etc for his stocking
A photo calendar from the cats

Running out of money but feel I should be buying him more. He is a lovely DH.

musttryharder · 26/11/2008 16:20

Squeaver, great site, that'll do me fine for stocking fillers for DH, my brother and my uncle

KatieScarlett2833 · 26/11/2008 16:23

Snow Patrol tickets

The complete Monty Python DVD set

Grand Theft Auto for the X box

I-Tunes vouchers

LaDiDaDi · 26/11/2008 16:29

I haven't bought him anything yet.

Thinking about getting him shoes and some cleansing/grooming stuff. Will probably pinch the "Britain from Above" book idea.

clam · 26/11/2008 16:31

Can't decide between a 'le cube' coffee machine (he drinks loads of coffee, I don't at all, so it's not a sneaky way of getting something I want too) or a new watch. There's a rather nice Armani one being advertised on aol from John Lewis. BUT, labels are wasted on him - he just doesn't care, although it's a handsome-looking watch. But he says he still really likes the one I gave him as an engagement present (although it looks very tired and battered nowadays).
We're going to America for Christmas, so anything I get him or the DCs that's larger than very small will have to be in the form of a wrapped photo of the item, to be had once we get home.

clam · 26/11/2008 16:34

Oh, and I love the idea of the family ski for the Wii. Might do for DS... and we can all pinch it.

tkband3 · 26/11/2008 16:44

We agreed no presents this year (but it's my birthday on 23rd so he's not allowed to forget that, particularly as it's a 'big' one). But he lost his wedding ring on holiday in the summer (swimming in the cold sea, it just slipped off, and we only got married in February this year!). It's taken me ages to finally get round to ordering a new one, and he doesn't know I've done it, so I thought I'd give it to him on Christmas Day. I was thinking about getting it engraved, with something similar to custardo's suggestion .
