My little one is due to perform in the school christmas play.

I feel the time is very late for the infants starts at 6.30pm is this normal ??

I have always worked in schools where the plays start earlier and are based more in the school day.

What time do your reception children plays begin ?

I think that 6.30pm 2 nights running is a bit late, as it starts at this time, so they will be hanging around the school for hours !!

I think you will find that working parents will complain if it is any earlier.

Yes but isn't it better to have children not too sleepy for school the following morning, my little one is usually tucked up in bed at 7pm everynight. My little one is also the youngest and smallest in the school and gets absolutely shattered.

I think you will find that most things that happen in schools happen because the parents want it!
From the teachers point of view, they would much prefer it was in the school day; they are having to give up evenings, at what is a very busy family time for them.
There would be an outcry if parents had to have time off work to get there! Teachers would never get to see their own children in a play, unless they were at the same school. There are other jobs where it just wouldn't be possible. Teachers do bear in mind that the pupils will be tired the next day and plan accordingly.

At DD's school the nativity takes place during school hours. This year it is 2:15 on the Thursday and Friday. Last year it was 10:15am one day; 2:15pm second day.

I would think a later evening show twice a week would be a bit much for many infant school children, esp in those very bsuy and exciting weeks leading up to end of term.
