Silly question perhaps but how do you power outdoor fairy lights?

I'm thinking about getting some outdoor lights for the garden (just one!) but it just occured to me- how do you power them? I thought you might just put the wire under the front door or out a window but there doesn't seem to be enough space for a wire once the door is shut!

Am I thick?

Ours are plugged in in the hall. There's a bit of a gap between the front door and the doorframe and the flex fits through that.

We power the lights for the outdoor christmas tree from the garage. Use the extension lead to near the door then just slip the transformer inside the garage.

We also use a timer so we don't keep having to go in and out to switch on and off.
