my ds loves music....and loves playing with the stereo, so i have bought him an ELC cd player to go in his room. We have plenty of music CD's for him to have, but i want to get him some story cd's and some kiddies music cd's.
Has anyone got any recommendations?

My Ds is 3 too and very into books.

Don't know if this is what you mean but my mother recently bought him Little Red Riding Hood (flip up fairy tales) by Jess Stockman and also 3 Little Pigs (flip up fairy tales) by Richard Johnson.

They are books with a CD. The only thing is they are not very long but my DS LOVES them and wants them again and again

They are also edited so not too scary ie wolf faints in Little Red Riding Hood instead of being cut up with axe etc

DS likes The Smartest Giant in Town.

We made DD's Greatest Hits compilation - all her favourite tunes on a CD and knocked up a CD case in Photoshop. We are doing Greatest Hits for all 4 offspring (a different compilation each with a different personalised case with photos and stuff) for Christmas stockings.

Child-friendly classical music: I got 'Peter and the Wolf' for my DDs birthday (narrated by Richard Baker) and it was wonderful... after her party we put it on and pranced around being the cat and birdie and duck... still likes it. Story and music in one!

The carnival of the animals (narr. Johnny Morris) is another good 'un

Another one she always liked (and still does) is Rimsky Korsakovs Greatest hits. Starting with the Flight of the Bumblebee.
Much buzzing round room(and, when old enough, tittering at the joke about the radio announcer calling it the Bum of the FlightleBee)

My son (4) really loves to go to his Nanna's house and get out my old Wombles albums. You could probably get them on ebay for nothing. They are so full of energy and innocent happiness, it is difficult to dislike them.

Putumayo Kids World Playground is another favourite. They do different style songs from around the world - some reggae, some Irish, some African etc. (I got something similar free when I took him to a Giraffe restaurant once).
