Hi

Father Christmas drops a dvd down the chimney on his way past on Christmas eve, 2 years ago we had The Santa Clause and it was so right - so magical, last year we had Santa Clause 2 - not so good, this year I don't think I'll bother with SC 3 as I've heard mixed reviews.

Any ideas - children are 8 and 6 and still firm believers.

PortAndLemon · 18/11/2008 21:09

Agree with Polar Express or (the original) Miracle on 34th Street.

i love xmas movies!

broodymom · 19/11/2008 12:00

Oooh it called Blizzard! Muppet christmas carol? it a good one as well!

Right no more im off embarrassed my self enough

Depends on how old your DC'a are. My son was terrified of the Polar Express, It is actually quite scary. Child walks out of house in night and gets on ghostly train with a very unfriendly strange conductor, has a terrifying ride including on the roof of the train, with yet an other very scary ghost, old man riding on the train. Scared me too. Even the santa at the end of the film doesn't smile

If your DC's are young, I would recommend Bob the Builders Christmas DVD from 2 or 3 years ago, hang on while a take a look at the title......A Christmas to remember. It is magical and although obviously it is animated, it brought a tear to my eye. Other than that I would recommend the one with Dudley Moore in, I think it is just called Santa Claus the movie, I loved that.

my kids are 7, 4 and 2 and all adore elf.
really funny, but warming and fuzzy too!

also home alone is good for your age kids.

Jbck · 19/11/2008 16:16

We've watched Elf about a dozen times & DDq who's just 7 still loves it, me too. Muppet Christmas movie, fantastic.

Does it have to be Christmas themed, we watched Nanny McPhee last Christmas & it's lovely, made me feel christmassy as it snows at the end. Might be a bit girly for boys tho'.

We have the Grinch too & watch it quite a lot.

Themasterandmargaritas · 19/11/2008 16:44

Mine 7 and 4 love The Polar Express

purplehighheels · 19/11/2008 17:11

We watched Home Alone last christmas eve, and my 2 loved it - they were laughing like little drains the whole way through!!

n5rje · 19/11/2008 18:25

Another vote for Elf - my DSs love it and all the Home Alones and Christmas Vacation one with Chevy Chase (not sure of the full title). If it doesn't have to be Christmassy have you tried Cheaper by the Dozen ?

nickstmoritz · 20/11/2008 22:30

Elf is funny and feel good as is Muppet Christmas Carol, I'm going to try the Dudley Moore one that cherryliquormonster recommended - cheers for that!

smartiejake · 20/11/2008 22:36

I just love Elf.
But one of the most magical christmas films of all time (IMO) is The Polar Express- even I believed when I had seen it!

TheRealMrsJohnSimm · 20/11/2008 23:19

Please dont let your DCs watch Santa Claus 3.....We loved the first two and thought it would be great to take DS1 to see the third one at the cinema. He was scared beyond belief and so worried that Jack Frost had in fact taken over CHristmas. I have to say that the Jack Frost character does look particularly weird dressed as Santa.

We love the Home Alone movies (1 & 2), the remake of Miracle on 34th Street.

PenelopePitstops · 20/11/2008 23:22

oh the bob the builder thing is fantastic!

miracle on 34th street aswell

debinaustria · 21/11/2008 20:31

I think it might be home alone then as we've seen Elf and miracle on 34th, thanks for the warning about santa clause 3.

Thanks everyone
