So I'm new to all this malarkey - dd1 is 2.5 and has to dress up as a character from the nativity for her christmas concert and party at playgroup. I don't think she's too bothered who - so what would be cheapest and easiest to make (bearing in mind I cannot sew) but also would survive a party afterwards.. h

How about this ??

Angel -- buy cheap plain adult T-shirt. Tie tinsel round middle or belt. Another circle of tinsel on head. Ta-da! You could add wings (from supermarket or Woolies or somewhere like that) if you wanted.

white pillow case - cut hole for head at one end - the end the pillow doesn't go in. holes just below for arms. add tinsel belt and headpiece, and a pair of fairy wings if you have them - angel.

or, dressing gown on, plus tea towel on head held with belt or tie, and a toy lamb - shepherd.

I like that - but its too expensive for us at the moment
I guess I assumed people made costumes but do most people buy them???

I think tesco and asda have little nativity costumes, but I'm not sure what sizes they start at. Very cheap though.

Other than that, you could dress her all in white, cut open a pillow, get the wadding out, fluff it out a bit then cut and (roughly) sew it onto an old white vest so she'd look like a sheep, then just paint her face white with a black nose or buy her a sheep mask.

Hmm - like the pillow case angel idea - think we could do that.. thanks

I can't make anything, I'm SO bad at that kind of thing that I have to throw money at these things.

I have a bear, a cat or a dog tabbard I can lend you but not very Xmassy!

Tea towel on head, dad's long sleeve shirt tied with a belt - shepherd?

Wrap her in a sheet, sit her in a box with a bit of hay - she can be Jesus!!!
