Just wanted to share that we went to see anta at Harrods on Saturday and were approached a few times while walking round the toy dept by staff asking if we wanted to visit the grotto. They said they had had a lot of cancellations. So might be worth a try if you are nearby anyway. It was fab !

Why was that ? He spent ages with our kids and we thought the gifts were really good for free too !

Well the santa was nice, everyone was pleasant but the 40 minute wait was pretty dull, nothing much in the grotto for kids to wonder at.Have seen much better grottos in the local village hall.
I would have been pissed off if we'd paid.
Did people actually pay to go then?

what did your kids get then?

mumto2andnomore · 18/11/2008 16:09

We only waited about 10 mins. There was Snow White, Aladdin and Jasmine dancing and talking to the kids and having photos taken with them so it went quickly. I would have been fed up waiting for 40 mins too.

They got a sticker book, a big chocolate coin and we all got a badge.Nobody pays its always free thats why I thought it was good.

I've only taken ds once and loved it! We were in the queue for about an hour but they had panto entertainers and gave out bottles of water and gingerbread biscuits!! Ds got a lovey book and badge too. My sisters have taken him twice but I don't think they had as enjoyable an experience!! Seems they vary it each year.

Will definately try this. Have taken my 3 DC for the last 8 years. Tried to book it in September, and it was fully booked. It doesn't seem like Christmas without this part of our ritual. We always used to go and then look round the toy area with the kids to see what toys took their fancy and then nip back to get them later. The kids have always loved it.
