Not a clue what to get for ds2. He has a big brother so has a lot of stuff already. Also no space for big toys.

I need inspiration

Lots and lots of individually wrapped things in big boxes lots of wrapping and stuffing. Probably stuff some toy cars in balloons in boxes wrapped. They're to young to get the presents really the funs all in the wrapping isn't it?

ChasingSquirrels · 15/11/2008 20:45

mine is 2.9, he also has a big bro (6) and it is his birthday at the end of Jan.

I HAVE NO IDEA!!!

My mum has got him a Peppa Pig playset, which he will love, and I have got some peppa pig sticker books, some glowsticks (got a set for them both from poundland today) and a Thomas magnetic scene set that has been in the cupboard for ages. Will get a selection bos and hopefully a few more bits.
I was going to get him a Thomas train, but he seems to have stopped playing with them recently.
Can't think of a main present so will probably just get stocking filler type. He won't know anything different, as long as he has things to open like ds1 he will be happy.

Wallace · 15/11/2008 20:49

They only get one main present, and I do like to get something useful that he will get play value out of (we don't really buy toys at any other time apart from Christmas and Birthdays)

Just had an idea, he loves his wooden train track so something like this would be perfect.

try TKMaxx for Brio stuff if you have one local, they often have it upto half-price.

Wallace · 15/11/2008 20:52

Wouldn't it be cool if you could get a Ninky-Nonk that goes on Brio type track ...

Mind you, he wouldn't still be playing with that when he is at school

Thanks, will try TK Maxx if I get the chance, but I think will hae to do most of my shopping online (I am car-less at the mo and 25 miles from the nearest shopping shops)

Don't make a special trip, they just have whatever is in.

spring2life · 15/11/2008 21:27

Brio racing cars are great , my ds sill plays with his and he is 3.5 now.

shelleylou · 15/11/2008 21:40

i got ds an aquadraw was 2 last weekend and he loves it constantly bringing me the pens to fill with water. Ive got him a cleaning trolley with mop brush, dustpan and brush hoover etc which wont take a huge amount of space when its put together and hes having a trike aswell

ohdearwhatamess · 15/11/2008 21:55

Ds1 is 2.5. He's getting a toy kitchen, stuff to go in the toy kitchen, a few more Matchbox cars, and books (although we're going to wrap the books up and pretend they're for ds2). Dh will probably get himself ds1 some Brio train stuff too.

LunarSea · 16/11/2008 09:30

ds2 won't quite be 2, but is getting a 3-wheel scooter and an easel with paper/chalks/washable dry wipe pens, etc).

Those have both been biggish, but relatively lost cost - under £35 for both including all the extras for the easel - so I'm still well within budget for him. But as they're both things which will be great longer term but he might not actually be able to play with much on Christmas day given the vagaries of a crowded house/uncertain weather, I'm still looking for something else which can be played with indoors without creating too much havoc! I'm toying with the idea of this as he loves diggers (this does say age 3 by the way, but there's a virtually identical - although more expensive - one in the Woolworths catalogue which says from 18 months).

We seriously considered a balance bike, but have decided to keep that idea for his birthday.

yomellamoHelly · 16/11/2008 09:46

Ds2 is getting stickle bricks and some duvet covers (moving into a bed soon). Also some bells and also a music-making set - drums etc (if I can get one). Hopefully he's also getting a box of Duplo bricks. We have so much already - so it is a case of looking for stuff we never got with ds1. Otherwise bubbles, balloons ....

Weegle · 16/11/2008 09:52

DS will be 2.6 and we've got him a toy keyboard. Smaller gifts are the toaster from ELC (he loved this at a friends), some threading cotton reels, and re-stocking arts and crafts supplies. Oh and a toy motorbike.

Other things that I have given to relatives as ideas (so don't know if he will/won't be getting) are: a bilibo (sp?), a toy guitar (music mad boy), a micro scooter, a toy till, more duplo for his collection, story CD's, the scramble net for his climbing frame and the Build-It Construction kit from ELC.

Sunshinemummy · 16/11/2008 09:58

Thomas train set, lots of Cars (Disney film) related things, a V-tech camera, some pjs.

mine is going to be two on boxing day, so have had to think of double presents! hes having a stacking pull along ninky nonk, a take along thomas playset, lots of little bits and pieces like bath toys and cars and stuff for stocking, loads of crafty stuff to share with his brother, and so on and so on

mummypingu · 17/11/2008 13:36

i second the raiding of tk maxx for bargains

i got this super bargain for £50 here big bro has lots of train bits but there is never enough for their super mega train tracks which they make downstairs in an open plan area and they play pretty cooperatively.

thats it the rest will be litle bits in his stocking, some hot wheels etc

geraldinetheluckygoat · 17/11/2008 14:54

yes tkmaxx is great for brio train stuff, and some nice books and sticker books in there too! Lovely cuddlies as well, my ds will prob have the one he cuddles in there sticking out of his stockng on christmas morning!

worley · 17/11/2008 15:06

ds2 will be getting some peppa pig things, go diego go duplo thing, a fireman sam set and a lazytown magnadraw thing, and a few odds and ends.
we have lots and lots of wooden trians/brio that were ds1's (now 10)he played with them for years and still likes to build a track for his brother (and play with it himself!)sadly ds2 isnt really interested in trains, he loves cars and bikes etc. so we have bags of thomas toys that arent used anymore. tesco is a good place to get the wooden track from, they do lots and its quite cheap to.

Mitchell81 · 17/11/2008 19:05

DS2 will be 2 and 1/2 at christmas and is getting ELC fire engine, bike, Cars backpack, Cars beachtowel, Cars and stocking fillers.

Lizzylou · 17/11/2008 19:15

DS2 will be 2.9 yrs at Christmas and is getting the Playmobil aeroplane, more dinosaurs/woolly mammoth, a Playmobil refuse lorry, a wooden puppet theatre (have no idea what this will be like, was £3.99 from Home Bargains!), more art stuff, Jigsaws and books.
He too has an older brother and plays with much older stuff than his brother did at that age, he is already "grown out" of his Bob the Builder vehicles, but he does still love his Little People Zoo!

hollyhobbie · 17/11/2008 19:17

Ds will be 21 months at Xmas. We're just getting 1 big present each for him and DD (3.8yrs) this year.

He's getting a Playmobil Noah's ark (I might hide the tinier pieces until he's a bit bigger), with the idea that he and DD will share it.

She's getting a real bike, so DS wins too- he'll inherit her likeabike.
