OK, I give in. I've tried to do this without the aid of MN, but I can't. What the hell, do I buy DD (13) this year?

She's a lucky girl, already has a laptop and phone, but equally, she's not a spoilt child and doesn't ask for anything.

I want to get her something nice, but I'm totally stuck!

What you buying your 13 year old?

Ipod?

Jewellery?

Perfume?

MaureenMLove · 15/11/2008 20:26

Jewellery might work. I could get her some decent earrings. Trouble is, 13 year old girls have an inability to keep things safe or put things away!

Oh I thought my 11 year old DD might grow out of that 'inability' in a couple of years

How about some nice jewellery and a lovely jewellery box that will encourage her to put things away?

MaureenMLove · 15/11/2008 20:30

No, sorry! It gets worse!

Good idea though, I might just do that. Get a nice jewellery box for everything.

Sewing & knitting kits, art supplies, big jigsaw - something 3d, puzzles - things like complicated mazes/balance beads in a cube, range of reference books, some super bath bubbles, lots of hair clips & bobbles,

My 13 year old is probably going to get -

  • A sewing machine as her main present - between her and her sister
  • a new cd player as hers is broken (has had it ages)
  • "nice" shampoo and conditioner
  • smellies and toothbrush etc
  • the 3rd and 4th "Twilight" books
  • a couple of arty bits and bobs: charcoal, pastels maybe
  • a dvd
  • a rug for her room
  • a Wii game

Not all from us - from grandparents, aunties etc too.

Ipod (has phone with mp3 type thing but battery gets used up pretty quickly). Also her birthday next week - shopping trip!

lisalisa · 15/11/2008 21:28

Stuff for her room is a good idea . My 12 yr old wants real ugg boots this year.

Sherbert37 · 15/11/2008 21:30

JL has a great red sewing machine for £49 and also lovely Cath Kidson sewing boxes. Thinking of putting those away for my DD who will be 14 in January.

janeite · 15/11/2008 21:31

The red one is the one I've got my eye on!

alleve · 15/11/2008 21:33

For DD 13 last year. She got New Look vouchers an Ipod and GHD hair straighteners.

This year it will be a laptop.

Janeite - do buy it soon as I'm sure it will sell out, it is so lovely!
