Who else leaves, or used to leave, beer out for Santa Claus?

Just been thinking about how Christmas was when I was young to try and see it from the DCs perspective to make it nice and I remember we always left beer and mince pies out for Santa Claus! I used to wonder if he got drunk if too many people did it... did you do it? Or do you now? Probably not terribly PC to do it now though...

Father Christmas got a nice drop of whiskey in our house when we were, probably get some sloe gin or port this year

Pigstyle · 15/11/2008 12:07

My Mum used to insist on Baileys for Father Xmas-funny ho wit was the only alcohol she would drink

We left him a glass of wine last year but as we will be in Barbados this year he might just get some rum!

debzmb62 · 15/11/2008 12:08

but for my kids i leave glass of milk mince pie and a carrot its lovely when they still belive
we get the kids in bed somehow lol then hubby gets dressed quicklie goes outside dressed as santa and walks passed house with a sack full of a sleeping bags etc and kids sneak a peek out the window to see him walking by its so exciting lol

In our house he was left a glass of whiskey or brandy. Plus a mince pie for him, and some grass or a carrot for the reindeers.

In fact, we still do it (youngest sibling is 19, and no children yet )

Bailey's at our house, but sadly no more. I had to come clean to ds 10 earlier this year.

Beer and mince pies in this house (and he always drinks it) - here in Canada people think that's hilarious - they leave milk and cookies (poor Santa)

StealthPolarBear · 15/11/2008 14:16

He liked whisky and a mince pie in our house. Rudolph always had a good gnaw at the carrot though!
Ahh thanks for starting this, you've just got me all excited about Christmas this yearwith a 20mo

wheresthehamster · 15/11/2008 14:17

No, we insist on orange juice because he still has a lot of driving to do.

We also put out a mince pie. And Rudolph has a bowl of water and a carrot.

No one believes any more, although possibly dd3, but they know I like doing it so humour me

HappyMummyOfOne · 15/11/2008 17:19

We leave a bottle of coke and a cookie or cupcake - santa doesnt like alcohol or mince pies in our house - Carrot for rudolph of course.

mamainstripes · 15/11/2008 17:37

He gets whiskey and a ham and cheese sandwich here

psychomum5 · 15/11/2008 17:38

he gets wine in our house, and milk-free cake (as you can never be sure he is not allergic)

ChippyMinton · 15/11/2008 21:22

Santa gets Guinness - DH fancied some on DS1's first christmas eve, and lo! a tradition was born

DontCallMeBaby · 15/11/2008 21:26

He had a glass of riesling and a slice of lemon cream pie last year - well, a note telling him about the pie, it was in the fridge.

woodstock3 · 15/11/2008 21:49

brandy and mince pie. my parents still did this up religiously to when my sister and i were in our 20s, i think - no, we didnt still believe by then! - they now do it for their grandchildren...

elmoandella · 15/11/2008 22:01
