Recommendations for DS games other than Mario for 12 year old

DD1 was given a DS for her tenth birthday but it only gets used sporadically. We only have Mario kart, Super Mario Bros, a Harry Potter game and Nintendogs... any suggestions for other ones with good play value? I'm not too keen on ones that simulate real life activity (ie she can design her own clothes with pencil & paper & cook with real food)

There is a new game out, something about a curious village. My friend has bought it for her ds who is 8, but she is hooked on it herself too, it is a puzzle game will try find a link

DD 11 favorite at the moment is animal crossing, she can contact her friend who has the same game through the wifi.

another recomendation for Animal Crossing - it is great

Will check them both out: the curious village looks especially promising... but there's a large part of me that thinks the wooden advent calendar would go down just as well!
