my youngest dd was 21 months last xmas. i got her the baby millie doll with crib from elc, and a toy kitchen to share with her sister who is a year older than her.

Umlellala · 10/11/2008 19:48

What does she like doing?
crafty stuff? roleplay? books?

Maveta · 10/11/2008 19:49

What does she like? Ds LOVES vehicles: cars, trains, planes, buses, fire engines etc. He is getting a fire engine thingy, a car that you press down on and then it zooms off, a set of books about various vehicles, a brio train track (my parents) a wheelybug (PILs), hopefully something to do with Pocoyo who he also loves and probably a Thomas the Tank engine themed present from other family members as those are what I´ve suggested.

And a mini broom, dustpan and brush set, randomly, as he loves draggging ours around so hoping i can get the training started early

Lucky boy!

Does she have any programmes she likes? Mickey, in the night garden, pocoyo?

books are always great at any age and something noisy! A doll and a pram? (sorry for the gender stereotyping but you know...) something to ride on (a wheelybug?)

a wendy house? ds has one and loves it and they come in all shapes and sizes to suit various budgets..

ShowOfHands · 10/11/2008 19:52

We've got dd who will be 19 months at Christmas some train track and trains, like brio but cheaper and fits brio too apparently. From ikea.

My dd loves pretending. Especially housework so pots/pans/brooms/hoover etc in miniature would please her.

Books definitely.

Chunky crayons/pens and paper.

Simple jigsaws. Peg board ones for example.

Maveta - C is getting almost the same as N!

Play kitchen, toy piano and guitar, cleaning trolley, leap pad little touch plus anything teletubbies/bob the builder/thomas the tank/In the night garden.

He loves noisy books - you know the ones with buttons down the side/shape sorter and mega sketch drawing thing?

Maveta · 10/11/2008 20:27

lol gmm are you getting him a kitchen? Does he play with kitchen stuff? N does but only in so far as banging pots loudly for which i don´t think plastic replicas will be quite a satisfying I so want him to not have all gender specific toys but his lone doll is totally abandoned and covered in dust at the bottom of the toybox so i don´t think a pram will get much of second glance either..

geordieminx · 10/11/2008 20:39

he loves the washing machine and dish washer. He has figured out how to turn the oven on this week...not good. 3 times i've gone in and the grill has been on full blast with all the baking trays in.

He likes the utensils too... But more as weapons to beat the cat or his daddy with.

Maveta · 10/11/2008 20:40

eeek.. at least you don´t have gas! (or do you??)

cherryliquormonster · 10/11/2008 20:56

Ikea do some too - there is a huge Ikea in Edinburgh!

MegBusset · 10/11/2008 21:19

DS is 20 months. He will be getting:

Set of Bob the Builder vehicles
Toy rocket
Some wooden puzzles (from eBay)
Jigsaw
Toy owl (he loves them)

Plus from the GPs, a toy microwave and toaster from M&S. They have 3 for 2 on all their toys so worth a look, there's loads of stuff like cooking sets etc.
