Do you have matching stockings?

Went to TK Maxx today and they have a humongous selection of christmas stockings all about the size I was looking for and in loads of different patterns and designs... so am now pondering do me and DP go in at the weekend and pick one each that we like best - but that don't match and then let our kids do the same in future years?

No kids this christmas but will have a 9mth old DD next year, so I guess we will buy her whichever one she refuses to let go of...

Do you think they will look fine/cute all mismatched but individually chosen, or does everybody else just buy a whole new set when a new child arrives so that the stockings match?

(BTW, I do stockings for adults too, that's why we're having them - and this is the first year we will be at home christmas morning which is why we hadn't got them before...)

I was going to do that - but then decided my skills with a needle a thread are not really as good as I would like to think they are!

I still have my stocking from when I was a child so ds' one doesn't match mine. My 2 older sisters had pillowcases so none of us matched!!

I use a sock

I bought a personalised one online for my little boys first Christmas, and we're expecting No2 at the beginning of December, so i've ordered another one to match. But i did wonder whether to get a different pattern in case they wanted them to be different as they get older. I don't think it really matters about them matching, as long as they have one

Oh, you mean Christmas stockings!

OrmIrian · 05/11/2008 21:21

I usually try to wear two that match yes.

Oooohhh... just realised this is the christmas topic!

I made dh and I stockings many years ago

they were personalised but they do match

No ours don't match. My parents bought the kids theirs for their first Christmas and they are very different in style though similar size.

I can't imagine anything more ridiculous than buying a new set of stockings each time a child is born

My kids use their dad's/grandad's socks, depending on which house they're staying in Christmas eve.

I have 2 different ones for DSs and one is slightly smaller than the other - so I did beat myself up a bit at first when I realised but then rationalised it by only putting the same things in each of them so there can never be any of the he's is bigger than mine arguments!
