DS1 (5) would like a car racing track for his Birthday/Christmas. I'm lost in the myriad of choices.

We also have a 2 yr old son who's quite heavy handed so don't really want to get something that wwill take forever to set-up and then be destroyed by DS2 in 5 mins.

He's not massively in to cars, more in to the racing idea I'd say. So....scalectrixs, hot wheels, roary racing track???? What are your thoughts please.

Go for a basic scaletrix set, which you can add to at a later date if you want to .
Found makes like hotwheels are fiddly and don't fit together too well and end up breaking up

Woolies have micro slaletrix half price at the moment. All the fun but doesnt take up so much space! Its still a long track, but you get more packed into the size IYSWIM.

Hot Wheels are very fiddly and hard work.
Roary might be a bit young?

I would be a bit wary of micro, we had the a micro set and it took forever to put together and the connections weren't always that good.
