how to make your home smell like christmas

i always do clove studded oranges and hang them up on various places, but its always a bit disapointing after a few days. lots of mulled wine making....pregnant this christmas so not so much of that. and always have a real christmas tree, unfortunately the one that drops the needles but they do smell nice. what do you do, does anyone like crabtree and evelyns noel fragrance, is it too synthetic? my sil had diptyque pomander candle burning all last christmas and it was beautiful but pricey!nwould love to hear you ideas

crabtree and eveleyn do a spray and I am sure some candles. Ooh just seen you have posted that , I like it but not everyone does.

Marks and Spencer had some nice scented candles last year.

No, seriously, guys - dried orange slices (dry them in a low oven) tied up with cinnamon sticks - mmmm!

A teeny bit of Olbas oil for that eucalyptus thing...?

I do the orange slices and cinnamon sticks, I am so sad not to be at home this Christmas.

awww come on i'm excited! ds1 is going to understand christmas for the first time this year, having started reception and doing nativity and taking him to a panto for first time. my parents never did anything nice or special for christmas (that does sound ungrateful) and they just shouted at each other and everyone else..want to make it special

I am excited this year although it would be better if we did it at home. Our view will be beutiful this Christmas and our town has lovely shops for Christmas shopping.

yankee candle wax tartlets for your burner - only about £1 each.

I have a glade plug in that smells of mulled wine. It's very overpowering nice.

A real christmas tree sometimes smells nice (unless you forget to feed it ). Some mulled wine simmering in the kitchen, gingerbread baking in the oven. Ahhh!

Bake mince pies, Christmas cake, Christmas pudding etc.

If in doubt, bake - that's my motto.

Those yankee tartlets last forever as well, I have a really nice cinnamon apple pie one that seems to have lasted for years, and it is on all the time.

I do lots of baking, home made mincemeat is very easy to make.

another fan of yankee candels,the tarts or the jars and they smell lovely and last for ages,bit pricier but you really get your moneys worth.

I cheat and use the Christmas Yankee Candles.

(DH is in Germany where they are a lot cheaper so has strict instructions to bring LOTS home, and seeing as he gets back on our 8th Anniversary, he better not forget or his life will not be worth living

Burn some mince pies. Set fire to a festive tablecloth with some festive candles.

We buy cinnamon scented candles from Pier. DP loves them so much, he burns them during the rest of the year too if I let him! They're reasonably priced and pretty too.

I'm making coasters and heat pads this year and am going to crush some cinnamon sticks i have rattling round in a kitchen drawer and put them between a layer of material and wadding so when i put a hot pan or mug of tea on them i will get a lovely cinnamony smell.

To me hyacinths and winter chrysanths are a christmas smell too, but that's probably from years of running a florist business.

I'm cooking my christmas cake as i type so my house smells very Christmassy right now.
