How old is he?

PhantomOfTheChocolateCake · 20/10/2008 14:44

ds would love that. He likes cooking.

GhostlySinCity · 20/10/2008 14:44

oh sorry, 9. My 8 year old would like that, wouldn't bother looking at the cover.

hellish · 20/10/2008 14:44

No, I think my dd(9) would love that. She's gone off wearing pink, but I think she'd love the book.

My DS2 (9) would love that book - but then his fav colour is pink.

feetheart · 20/10/2008 14:45

Haven't got a 9 year old (tho 3 yr old DS would love it!) but don't think its too pink. Go for it

overthemill · 20/10/2008 14:45

my 9 year old ds (off school) says' its really good and isn't to girly for people who don't like pink and such'
and she typed that

hellish · 20/10/2008 14:45

Sorry, I assumed it was a dd.I think a boy might be put off by the cover.

nappyaddict · 20/10/2008 14:46

overthemill - ds or dd? you typed ds and she lol.

Ds1 (9) (supposedly ill ) made a face, shook his head slightly and pronounced it too girly.

nappyaddict · 20/10/2008 14:50

Does DS1 like cooking? was it the cover that put him off?

OP posts:
nappyaddict · 20/10/2008 14:53

so is this too babyish?

OP posts:
TooTicky · 20/10/2008 16:57

He does like cooking, yes.

The other book he said was, "A bit babyish. More for 6 or 7 year olds. And a bit girly because of the angels."

He actually likes grown up cookery books, with lots of coloured pictures.

nappyaddict · 20/10/2008 23:21

oh dear i hadn't even considered the angels being girly!!

how about this one?

and ask if he would be a bit fed up getting a xmas book that he would have to wait a whole year to use.

Sorry, I keep forgetting to ask him!
It looks good to me, but really you do need it before Christmas. The novelty may well have worn off by next year.

elliott · 22/10/2008 22:12

We've got that - for ds2 (who admittedly is only 4) - but you know, I hadn't even noticed that it had pink on it, nor thought of it as remotely girly...ds2 loves it

kid · 22/10/2008 22:12

My 6yo DS wouldn't like that just because the front cover is quite girly.
Bet he would love to eat whatever you can make from it though!

elliott · 22/10/2008 22:14

There is a companion book 'things to make and do for christmas' that is blue and red on the cover - might be better?

CatMandu · 22/10/2008 22:16

My five year old ds would think it was too girly, so no I wouldn't get it for a 9 year old.

trockodile · 23/10/2008 09:41

River Cottage Family cook book is the best I have seen for all ages. Not christmassy but imo worth getting.

nappyaddict · 23/10/2008 12:31

does anyone have year 2 boys? if so would they like either of these? xmas book football book

i'm not sure if they are too babyish.

OP posts:
kid · 23/10/2008 21:59

I have a year 2 boy and he would love both of those books.
Infact, I might put them on his Christmas list.

Peachy · 23/10/2008 22:08
