HI, can anyone recommend a race track toy for this age group, i don't really want to get one too babyish as want it to last a bit too, I have seen one but it says age 6+ www.toysrus.co.uk/Product.aspx/truhome/trutoys/trutoyscarstruckstrains/trutoyscarstruckstrain sroadracesets/038709

do you think it will be too hard for him?

you had a space in the middle of the web address

it's here if anyone else has info.

I would say, yes it is too complicated at aged3. The problem with any of the tracks is the cars don't need full throttle all the way round. A 3 yo tends to either squeeze the controller all the way in making the car go flat out and fly off the track or not squeeze it at all making the car stop, it takes alot to learn to squeeze it gently IYSWIM.

the 'my first scalextric' works on the same principle. The only thing 'my first' about it is the track is a very basic shape. (but boring)

saying that we had it for ds and have since 'added' to it with other micro scalextric so you can have bigger tracks with different bends and curves which works well.

mums brought one for DS from woolies.

here

he's 2.5 well will be 2.10 come xmas - reckon it will be OK for him, esp as for the most part, he'll be prising it away from DP, DB and my uncle! lol.

I wouldnt get my first scalextric - but would get scalextric mini ( you cab get on amazon) or go onto scalextric track. Far better value than the younger version and can get it in lots of different styles. They do need help putting it together but my 4yo had it and was fine.....

it prob isnt quite as robust as the my first one...but will entertain for longer....in fact DH loves playing with it

backintheUK · 19/10/2008 09:27

sorry its microscalextric - we have mighty minis!

Thanks everyone :-) yes i think that one is going to be too hard now i have read your posts, will have a look at the mini scalextrics or think of something else and wait until next year, i am a bit undecided what to get for him, but he loves anything to do with cars!

The [[http://www.elc.co.uk/toy/shake-n-go-race-track/ Shake n Go from ELC is good. Ds1 is 5.5 and has only just really grown out of it; ds2 is 2.5 and can manage it.

Stinkyfeet · 19/10/2008 11:10

sorry!
