Ds is 2.8 so something simple for him to make.

Christmas tree decorations (with a picture of ds, they like these), calendar, mince pies, biscuits, pomanders go down very well.

today my dd made a hand print angel, which we will frame. painted her hand blue, and this went in the middle and was the dress. then painted both hands yellow and these went either side of the blue hand but a bit lower. Turn it around, pink paint on the finger to make a face, and to add hands. I've added a bit of glitter to jazz it up. we've done 10 (slave master that i am) and these will make presents for GPs, aunties and godparents.

Last year she painted ceramicsm but a bit skint this year.

meant ceramics

avenanap - how do you make the photo tree decorations? I love this idea!

RustyBear · 04/10/2008 19:21

I still have a pencil pot DD made from a cut-off tube (like a Prigle's tube) with a drawing wrapped round it & stuck on.

avenanap · 04/10/2008 19:22

Glitter, cardboard, glue, string and pictures. Just cut the faces out of some old photo's in a shape, cut stars out of the card, glue the edges and coat them in glitter. Make a back out of card and stick some string in the middle so they hang. If you want to go the whole hog pop to the craft shop and get some flymo (I think it's called this, it's like coloured clay, you mould it and leave it to set so it goes hard). Just mould a shape, say an angel with wings and glue the picture on.

Okay this is a doddle - get a photo of your kids. Get some glue and stick it on a card and let them decorate the outside of the photo with glitter, leaves, pens, whatever so they make a decorative frame. Grandparents think it's fab.

Make some simple shaped cookies & let ds run wild with decorations for them. (you do the baking obviously!) I'm going to do this with my lo later in the year for gp's & uncle & next door

MarkStretch · 04/10/2008 19:56

I painted dd's hands pink and then printed them on a white mug. Then you varnish and bake in the oven.

Her grandparents still have them 6 yrs later.

MO Fimo, avenanap?

Preview, woman, preview!.....

RustyBear · 04/10/2008 20:05

I'm really not doing well here, am I? Fimo

avenanap · 04/10/2008 21:33

That's it! Thanks Rustybear.

Woolworths have paint your own mugs and plates for £2 at the moment. We will be making some for the Olds!

Nbg · 05/10/2008 08:32

We have done clay tree decorations and photos before.

This year, dd is going to draw a picture onto some canvas and I am going to embroider over it.
We did one for my dad earlier in the year and he loved it.
He even got it framed

Planted bulbs like Hyacinths go down well too.

Phoenix · 05/10/2008 09:57

Thanks these are all fab ideas. I'll have to get creative .
