Looking to get some new ones for Christmas. DC are 10 and 8, we’ve enjoyed kiddy ones in the past but they are probably old enough for more grown up ones now. We have:

monopoly
cluedo
scrabble
mousetrap
uno
dobble
sushi go
exploding kittens

Thanks!

Labyrinth is a good one.
There is a Disney Villainous one that mine love, there are different sets so you can add more characters.

Ticket to ride is good fun

Also recommend Labyrinth.

Trivial Pursuit family edition was very popular when ours were younger. Articulate. Risk is a brilliant game for real board game lovers but does take longer.

I haven’t heard of many of these - thank you!

Another vote for ticket to ride.
My 8 year-old loves the Harry Potter fantastic beasts game - its a really nice 'in between' kiddie games and more grown up games.

I have recently become quite hooked on backgammon. It has just the right combination of skill and luck.

My DD is 10 and likes 2 player game Patchwork if you want something they can play together or with just one kid one adult.

She also likes a daft one called Oh My Pigeons but it's expensive new and over quickly, and Santa's Rooftop Scramble which takes longer but is a bit dull. She likes Game of Life whereas I don't, if that helps.

I've got card game Flip 7 on a friend's recommendation (Nightmare Before Christmas edition) for a stocking

For a quick family game Six Second Scribbles is good

There's Babies Vs Bears which I think is by the exploding kitten people and is more involved- I'm not sure I've ever properly got the hang of it. Sleeping Queensis good too. I'm realising some of these might not be as grown up as you are aiming for though sorry.

Do you have a boardgames cafe near you? I would have cringed myself inside out at the idea of going to one but games are soooo expensive. Good way to get ideas and try games out, the staff explain the game and set up in the one near us so I'm not going round the bend trying to read instructions. Saved me buying a really expensive game I thought I'd like but hated, found us Patchwork which we wouldn't have looked at otherwise and we had a lovely morning out.

If you like Monopoly, Monopoly Go (the card game) is great fun.

I’d also recommend -

Ghost Blitz
Dixit
Outfoxed

I’m old school… Pictionary!

Although not a board game, PerUdo is hilarious.
