Alas I do not have my dream Cotswold’s company larder *sigh but I do have a rather beautiful sideboard that I bought on FB marketplace a few weeks ago and I have decided I’m going to fill with some delicious jars, treats and ingredients for seasonal baking and the run up to Christmas.

So far I have a posh spiced porridge that came in an hamper last year and did not get used so I’m going to decant that into a kilner jar I have treated myself to some of Fortnums Christmas Gingerbread Curd with a voucher I had and this lovely looking cherry jam that I’m going to resist eating by spoon and use to make a Cherry and chocolate cake.

What’s on your festive eating, baking and making list?

Omg I love sour cherry curd. So will definitely be getting some of that.

Veggie caviar for canapés
A wheel of brie
A potted Stilton. The special Stilton spoon we bought while feeling a bit flash ten years ago comes out at Christmas and needs a job.

After a year with serious ill health im not going to jeopardise my condition but im going to push the boat out with a packet of festive crisps. I don't know if Lidl will be doing their lobster cocktail ones again but they'd be my number 1 choice as I love the fact they're spicy and still taste of prawn cocktail.

I need to know more about the special Stilton spoon!

I would like to know about the Stilton spoon too!

I have an old bell that belonged to my granny, she collected them, and it sits on the console table all year round and no one really bothers with it however on Christmas Eve it becomes the “Christmas Fairy bell” and it’s how my (now teenage!) girls know that their Christmas Eve pyjamas have arrived and they all still charge down the stairs to look behind the front door….just love the traditions, particularly at Christmas, can make inanimate objects come alive wirh a little magic and imagination.

Anyway, I digress…

LOVE the “posh Crisps” idea and the veggie (or not) caviar.

I have splashed out and bought a beautiful bottle of smoked Somerset Apple Brandy for after Christmas dinner (thought it would also make epic naughty hot chocolates!) a little nod to my dad who is spending Christmas with us and is from Somerset and also all the lovely Apple days we have spent with our children in the school orchard, singing in church or making Apple cake for the bake sales, sine we have moved down to the South West.

I also have my eye on this…

Absolutely love that it’s sustainable and reusable, very reasonably priced and also a really lovely ingredient to put in any cake, mince meat pie or hot chocolate.

Love this thread; I will be watching to borrow ideas! My number one item for xmas luxury is always a box of florentines. I love these and could easily polish off a box in one sitting, hence restricting to xmas only. We do eat a lot of cheese here, but will absolutely be trying to elevate with some pickled pears (selfridges has these) along with any other bits of deliciousness I see! I do like these M and S spicy stuffed olives, so will definitely pick some of those up

Have you seen on the Poncetastic thread @Restlessinthenorth there is recipe to make pickled pair, I think from reading the juices turn into more of a spiced syrup, so the fruit is still excellent for a cheeseboard and the rest make a lovely top for a glass of Christmas Eve bubbles.
