I know it early but we all meet next week to work out Xmas plans, this year we will be 17 at the house and 18 for the big dinner. We always have drinks covered and I’m asking others to bring cheese and puddings so that’s sorted. All I need is to check what I’m planning and show the list to everyone so we all on same page. No veggies this year so all meat eaters. They arrive Xmas eve and leave the 27.
xmas eve dinner is lasagne or curry, salad, rice, garlic bread, naans and chutneys. Pudding will be chosen by a guest.
xmas day breakfast, pastries, cereal, bacon rolls, drinks etc. Some will go off to the beach some will come to our pub for a while.
Snacks, cheese, biscuits, chocolate all about the house so if anyone is starving they can help themselves as dinner not until 5 ish.
Dinner. Turkey / beef. Pigs in blankets. Stuffing. Roast spuds. Mash. Sprouts, carrots, cauli cheese and parsnips. Yorkshire puds.
pudding served later and again drinks and pudding taken care of.
Cheeseboard and snacks floating about all evening.
Boxing Day brekkie again pastries, cereal, toast and bacon rolls. All will be off to the pub where lunch will be bubble and squeak and sides. I’m not in charge of that our pub cook is doing that. Afternoon early evening of music and drinks in the pub, then back to ours. Lunch will be late afternoon so going to offer rolls, cooked meats, turkey, beef and gammon. Lots of snack type things.
27 just breakfast needs to be done, same as the other 2 days or if people would like they can go off to our pub for a buffet type cooked breakfast.
Anything missing ? Would this be ok for you ? Thanks in advance.

Sounds amazing. Yes please!

Whatshitnow · 19/10/2026 15:54

Ooh, yes. What time do you want me?
I can bring wine! 🍾🍾🍾🍾

Clarinet1 · 19/10/2026 16:00

Sounds fabulous!

Rose785 · 19/10/2026 17:03

This looks absolutely delightful! Only thing I would add is fresh fruit offered with breaky and with the cheeses (if not already on offer)

There will be lots of fruit available, I may do a fruit salad for Xmas day brekkie, good idea.

I assume the bread sauce, cranberry sauce and gravy are just so obvious you didn’t feel the need to write them down! It all sounds delightful.

I was also going to suggest fresh fruit - 1 large bowl of chopped mixed fruit could last in the fridge for 2-3 days of breakfasts or for mid-day snacking to offset the cheese etc.

dairydebris · 19/10/2026 17:33

I think you need a fresh zingy salad on boxing day.

Also something simple and green for Christmas dinner / lunch.

Pickles with the cheese / meat leftover meals.

Basically it's a little carb heavy and I'd really appreciate something crunchy and fresh to even it up a bit.

hattie43 · 19/10/2026 17:50

I hate Brussel sprouts so would want another green vegetable eg broccoli and peas . The rest looks delicious .

Pickles and chutneys be available and going to put broccoli on Xmas dinner. They all love the carbs here 😂, salad will be available in the house but Boxing Day lunch is bubble and squeak they all love that.

Edited

I’m going to do a couple of bowls of fruit salad to have in hand and there will be a full fruit bowl too.

Won't anyone want something more substantial between breakfast and 5 pm?

Plenty to snack on, breakfast won’t be until around 10am and those with smaller children will be in the garden room, I’m putting cereals and milk out there for them along with fruit and snacks so hopefully be ok.

Yeah what time are we all coming over? Shall I bring wine?

5289843DM · Yesterday 09:51

Membrillo (quince paste) and fig jam for the cheese platters? I'd be willing to bring my own home-made ones to contribute, if I could come too?

Anyone who brings wine is very welcome. It’s a smaller crowd this year so plenty of room.

I think it’s quite a long time too between breakfast and dinner (but I’m an early riser). Could there be a small sandwich platter around 12:30 for early breakfast people/kids?

I’m going to suggest this to them all, I’m sure the ones with little kids will appreciate that.

@Cravey Add sweetcorn to the Christmas Day veg. Takes but a moment to prepare, goes surprisingly well with turkey, and is another option for those who don't like sprouts/parsnips/cauliflower cheese.

dollyblue01 · Yesterday 16:55

All sounds amazing and more than enough! Very nice of you to have given it such thought, I’m sure everyone will be well fed, by the sounds of it.

Most of them like at least 2 of the veges so I’m going to add broccoli and that’s the lot. They’re all carb mad to be honest I know the meat and spuds will all go 😂
