TV for DS's bedroom without free range access to youtube?

I am considering letting DS have a tv for his bedroom but on our tv downstairs, youtube has a pin on it so he can't watch it freely.

Do all smart tvs have this feature? I don't want to buy one not realising that not all smart tvs have it as an option?

Having a pin on youtube downstairs (and on the family console that's downstairs) drastically limits his access and works well.

Don’t buy a smart tv

How old is he?

Why would you do this?! I'm baffled.

Most smart TVs enable you to lock apps

Myself, my children and my grandchildren have never had TVs in our bedrooms and we have all survived. My advice don’t do it.

Get a second hand tv dvd combi and just buy him a stack of second hand DVDs they’re like 50p from charity shops or online, don’t have it connected as an actual tv, ever!

How old is he? Why does he need a TV in the bedroom? I've always found this an odd thing to do for younger kids which I'm assuming he is as you want to restrict YouTube access.
