So today I bought a tub of quality street and some pigs in blankets. I like to try and buy extra bits weekly so it’s not a massive outgoing nearer Christmas. Only thing now is having to avoid the quality street until Christmas 😂
Anyone else started the Christmas food shop?

Bought my beef today! Didn’t mean to but Sainsbury’s had taste the difference joints at 25% off and I get an extra 15% off (perks of teenage son having a job there) so I got a £29 joint for about 18 quid so that’s now in the freezer

I haven't bought anything for us yet, but have stocked up on chocolate that I am giving for gifts or for kids stockings. There seem to be some good offers at the moment. I did have a moment of weakness looking at the mince pies in M&S today but sadly put them back, having decided it really was too early to start on the mince pies (even though I love them)

Not yet because I will eat them, but the tubs of Quality Street and Heroes are £4 in Asda, Roses £5....quite a bargain I think.

I’ve bought cadburys choc coins when i saw them and m and m/galaxy pouches that were on offer in Asda the other week. Toffifee for MIL and have ordered Lindt as had a blue light code that stacked with another offer. Oh and maltesars when they were £1.80 a box. I am struggling to figure out where to stash them that won’t get too warm though when the heating is on over winter as we don’t have an attic!!
In October I am working my way through the freezer so come November I can start to buy things that freeze well.

You can keep them in the car boot or garage/garden shed at this time of year TBH.

So far I have the M&S big tin, pretzels, breadsticks and some M&S chocolate tortillas. Will add some more bits weekly, but to be honest we don't go overboard with the snacks and treats.

I will do a thorough check of the cupboards and freezer to see what we need ingredients wise, as for the most part we cook from scratch.

Bought a BuzzBall in Sainsbury’s for DHs stocking today as spotted they have a Nectar discount on. I thought that was quite organised of me but you all have shown me up!

I have a package of sausage meat in my freezer for sausage rolls (it’s hard to get where I am so I bright it back from summer trip home - along with a jar of mincemeat I’d made a couple of years ago). Good ready rolled pastry (puff, short crust and filo) are all easy to get though.

There’s no Christmas food in my local shops yet…but I am home this weekend so plan a short visit to M&S for a couple of conveniences for the next week and maybe a couple of festive treats if they’re available yet, as I have space in my case for a change. But that’s low down on my planning list as I have a few family things I need to get done first.

It’s a horrible mixture of sweet and savoury bits in a tin. So, mini pretzels mixed with sweets for example.

@WildlyInappropriate Where did you find Treeslets?

I have been hunting but no joy as yet.

I picked some up in B&M today

Not yet and certainly will be boycotting Morrisons for tubs of sweets

Our local one has a huge glass foyer on the corner that they stacked high with pallets and pallets of sweet tubs....at the hottest time if year. I think they took them all in as they were ridiculed on local sites. Imm not risking it 😅

Good move on the pigs in blankets - I always find they’re thin on the ground when you want to buy them around Christmas time.

we make ours. Because, the last time I ordered them at Xmas time they were out of stock! They are dead easy to make. Just like cranberry sauce is.

BiddyPopthe2nd · 05/10/2026 06:14

I got to M&S so I have 2 packs of mince pies (“for the office”, which may or may not make it in there 🫣).
