Hi all,

looking for some gift ideas for my 25 year old DD for Christmas!

She lives with her partner and they don’t have kids yet.

She’s into Lego but has loads so hard to buy this for her! Loves beauty and hair care too but again quite specific products that are harder to buy for her as she buys them herself.

Perhaps an experience for her and son in law would be good?

Not very outdoorsy, definitely a homebody. She has a cat that she treats like her child 🤣

likes crafty things and books but again books aren’t easy to buy as she’s read them all!! Into musicals but I think she’s seen the ones she’s keen on as she hasn’t mentioned any new ones recently.

I really struggle for ideas for her now she’s older so hoping for some inspiration from everyone here!

Just ask her !

I have asked and she’s given me some ideas but also I thought it was a bit boring if she doesn’t get anything she isn’t expecting/has directly asked for!

I hate it when my mum buys me stuff I don’t really want so I have a “surprise”. It’s usually something I don’t really want and I hate feeling ungrateful but I’d rather she just ask and get me something I would like.

The book nook kits were popular last year. Sounds like something she might like? I've never seen one so can't tell you how good they are/where to purchase.

Personally I much prefer getting gifts that I have specifically said I would like to have rather than random ones.
If you want to do a suprise gift maybe a hamper of her favourite treats.

Ask her partner for ideas.

If you can afford it, get her more expensive versions of things you know she likes / has asked for. I think that then makes it feel more like a present, and not just something you’d buy yourself.

I got one - they are great! Lego-vibe in that you are following step by step instructions to put small pieces together, but completely different. You can get lots of different designs - Rolife is the brand I have from Amazon.

Does she have the Tuxedo or orange cat lego?

Lego has just released its own Book shop nook and it’s on my Christmas list .

You say she loves beauty. How about create your own lipstick experience. It’s something you could do together. I know you can do it in London but not sure where else.

I recommend a book subscription from www.thewilloughbybookclub.co.uk/products/bespoke-gift-book-subscription?variant=41637767020705 .
I also second the Book Nooks! Lego lights might work too if she likes to display the builds.

Experiences are good, so improving on a skill or craft. If in London Royal School of Needlework, or a V&A session, or a yearly subscription. Upgrades are good too. So for a crafter better tools.

A sewing machine? Was making curtains today on mine which was a present from my mum so made me think of it!

My dd is the same age , I pick things up from summer onwards that she says she likes when we are out together and quite often by Christmas she has forgotten she has asked for it , I got a bag from Zara the other day that she saw a few weeks ago . I would find what shampoo , conditioner she uses and see if they do gift sets . Look Fantastic is a good website. Ritual products always go down well as they feel quite luxurious. Victoria secret pj’s are an hit too and I always get a voucher for her favourite clothes shop too.

Sunbringer · 20/09/2026 22:59

Get her those hilarious glasses that let you read lying down. They’re called Lazy Glasses lol. Just because they’re funny tbh.

Plus a Waterstones gift card. I’d love if more people got me this so I could choose more books.

A personalised book embosser is cute too.

Crafts - get her a book nook kit! A London Review of Books subscription is a nice present? Only if she's a bit of a nerd though (I say this as a nerd who reads it)

OMGitsnotgood · 21/09/2026 08:02

Has she got Lego flowers? If not, a kit and an appropriate vase.

if you know what perfume she uses, the matching soap/shower gel/body lotion

Re other beauty and hair products - buy a selection of what you know she uses, then she can use the money she’d have spent on those next year to treat herself to something else.

if you are able to sneak a peak at her cookery books, a book she hasn’t got plus th most commonly used herbs and spices in that book.

Is there something she wears regularly that has seen better days that you can replace and upgrade?

I am nervous about reataurant gift vouchers as in recent years have both given and received vouchers for places which closed suddenly. Now I make my own voucher and enclose the cash.

Goldengirl123 · 21/09/2026 08:26

Groupon have some good deals for overnight spas. Also try Spaseekers. This always goes down well in my family

MaeshoweDragon · 21/09/2026 08:32

I got the Sherlock Holmes, Baker Street lego book nook from my family for my birthday. Absolutely loved it. Really great to make, looks good in my bookcase. I also do ROKR/Rolife wooden book nooks and have progressed to mechanical ones.

greenmacchiato · 21/09/2026 09:53

Oh, books aren't easy to buy, you're right. How about a book club subscription or a book store gift card instead? A Kindle e-book subscription maybe, something that would give her a variety of options and she'll find something she definitely enjoys? Or, if there is a favorite book or author of hers, could be a special edition or a signed copy.
I'd also look into tickets to shows she'd be interested in attending, favorite artists' gigs or tribute shows, etc.
Also not exactly a gift idea, more like a nice addition to the main gift, but you can make a birthday video for her with all of the photos you have of her from the childhood years up to the most recent ones. Add a song she loves in there, cute family jokes or names you have for her, etc. It could be very cute and you cn email it to her first thing in the morning.
