Ooh thanks for this, those two are perfect for what I’m looking for. Great tip off ⭐️

Julynian · 17/09/2026 13:47

p.s. have not yet got any to photograph and share, but have ordered myself the advent package from TreatBox.

SnortCorner · 17/09/2026 17:19

I'd love to know if anyone sees a good tea calendar. I've been looking, but they all seem to contain herbal, fruity and/or green teas 🤮

I'm just after one that has English breakfast, Assam, Darjeeling, early grey, lady grey, rose, Ceylon, etc etc. plus a Christmas/festive/winter blend. But I might have to make my own!

Bird and blend have an amazing one! I got the caffeine free one but they have other varieties. I also have a referral code if you would like me to pm 🙂

SnortCorner · 17/09/2026 18:28

Thank you @shirleyval. I had looked at the bird and blend one, but I just don't think I'd like all those flavoured teas.

SaraHoliday · 17/09/2026 18:44

I think this one has some 'acquired taste teabags' in it but thought I'd share it!

It's £100 from Fortnum & Mason - there is a more expensive one on their website too! 😬

Anyone seen a biscuit advent calendar m&s did one a few years ago and was £10 so a reasonable amount. I’ve done the walkers shortbread one since but a bit bored of that. I’ve just seen the Harrods one but £40 seems a lot anyone seen any in the middle?

I think this is really clever, and reasonably priced considering it Fortnum and Mason and each day comes with 2 tea bags and biscuits (noting that £100 for an advent calendar is still extortionate!).

However, there is too much green tea for my liking (same with the Bird & Blend one). Like @SnortCorner i would like one with a variety of of black teas.

Aleveldilemma · 19/09/2026 18:10

Thanks for the after 8 tip OP! Will try to get that one for myself?

Yesitsweird · 19/09/2026 18:13

Also I have found my people as I want a naice advent calendar but I couldn't care less about beauty products so the beauty ones are always lost on me!

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 19/09/2026 20:25

No pictures as I haven't bought any (yet)

I bought the Rituals Wreath last year
This year I might try and get the Bonne Maman jam one . .

I do a December 1st Box for DD (used to do an Advent Calender but she likes all the beauty gifts in one go so she doesn't have to wait Xmas Grin )

DS wants chocolate , Cadburys , not one of the nut or fancy filled ones .
And some of the chocolate coins .

Might get DD the Cocoba Gruffalo one (she's 24 Xmas Grin ) and very fussy with chocolate . She's had Hotel Chocolat or Lindt before

I like this idea. One if my friends does a 1st of December present for her Daughter. It's usually something not very expensive like a colouring book and new set of pens. 'Something to do' in December.

Do you also give a 'Christmas Eve box' @70isaLimitNotaTarget ? 🎁

I absolutely refuse to do advent calendars this year. The prices are absolutely shocking.

No Christmas Eve Box , I used to when they were little - the pyjamas (festive winter not Chrstmas), an annual , selection box , bath bomb, new tooth brush - to get them settked for sleep .
Then a 5am stocking Xmas Grin

When DD had the Beauty Advent calender it was things like a Barry M polish , hair bands, face mask, small bubble bath . I put each one in a gift box (re-used each night) with a wooden 1-24 number tag .

She has expensive taste now with beauty care . I do maybe 10-12 items that I collect over the months and it is part of her Christmas presents but she can use through December .
They have pyjamas , underwear , socks , lounge wear for DS , sweets ,

@70isaLimitNotaTarget I don't want to derail the thread but as you have a mix of children; have you heard of a 'Hot Chocolate Station'? My niece and her friends have one each year. Basically it's an area or table in the kitchen that has Christmas mugs, Marshmallows, can of spray cream, sprinkles, candy canes, spoons, chocolate powder etc. Everything and more to make a hot chocolate with.

Apparently it is set up on 31 October and stays until 1 January.

I'd never heard of it but I'm told it's been popular for a few years?

I have wondered if this is a 'Southern' tradition as we live far away.

I have but I've never tried it .

It does sound really lovely though , you could have the sprinkles , candy canes , biscuits etc in fancy jars spoons left out and keep the cream in the fidge .
It would work really well if you have a Hotel Chocolat Velvetiser as safer for children to use depending on their age .

Nice for Christmas Eve or a party or similar if we had this for all of Nov/Dec I'd be the size of a house Xmas Grin

.I bought an Aerolette whisk , I did have a milk frother but it did;t get hot enough IMO . I do milk on the hob not a microwave and use those double walled glasses that are safe for hot drinks .
DS likes 'nice' hot chocolate , DD like the Cadbury instant one .
I do have one occasionaly , very sweet though .

I don;t know where it originates , it seems very "Barney the Dinosaur" ( huge green/purple dinosaur my DC loved , he did very good Christmases )
My DC are 24 and 26 now so Barney was a long while ago thankfully .
