Christmas tree baubles

We've recently been adopted by two kittens who are completely manic. They've been on, under, over and up every piece of furniture and upholstery in the entire house.

All my Christmas tree baubles are glass which isn't going to fly this year as it's likely the tree will take a hit at some point.

Getting to the point...has anyone any suggestions for nice (naice even) non breakable baubles and tree decorations. All the plastic ones I've seen to date are nasty - think visible ridges.

TIA!

How about wooden ones? Although I’d be tempted not to bother at all with a tree in any room the kittens can get into, mine pulled the whole tree down!

Do you have a real or an artificial tree? We always have an artificial tree and in the Kitten Year I only added the top branches.

i didn't do a tree when mine were kittens. It would have been on the floor with glass everywhere in minutes.

there will be other years.

I bought this (or similar) when we had "fresh" kittens one year 🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛

We prefer it to an actual tree now as it takes up no room in our small living room. We hang it in our bay window.

I attach wooden and felt decorations on hooks. I get decorations from places like National Trust gift shops (also from a homeware chain in the Netherlands and Belgium called Dille & Kamille which I visit in one city or another most years).

I do sometimes feel a bit sad when I see my lovely classic glass decorations still in their boxes but the hanging gets a lot of compliments from neighbours and we're usually away from Christmas anyway.

Just put orange/lemon essential oils on the tree and a tree skirt around to catch anything they might drop. My cats don’t bother with the tree.

Safe decorations on lower branches (wood, plastic, material etc.)

Special decorations on higher branches - with little black zip ties so that they can't fall off.

Then make sure the whole tree is really anchored down so it can't topple over.

Wooden is a good idea, thankyou. I was wondering about the wisdom of having a tree cat all!

Our first year with kittens I ended up having to take the tree down. Didn't even get it decorated, they just wouldn't leave it alone.
Second year was better but I still only put my felt and wooden decorations on it.
This year I'm not going to be able to put it up as I have a parkour course for the cats all over the walls so no room for it!

the only way i could kitten proof the christmas tree was to put it in a big planter with a lot of pebbles.....they couldnt tip it over and it lost the attraction

The first year we had cats, we tied the tree to the ceiling and only let them in the room when we were there. Once or twice, they climbed up it . The second year they completely ignored it. Fast forward 17 years , we had another 2 cats and the exact same thing happened. First year they were inquisitive and climbed up the tree. We are now 6 years on and they’ve not bothered about the tree at all, since they were kittens.

I have some bell baubles which I usually put on the lowest branches so I can hear if they start attacking the tree - however they never have. DCat1 is obsessed with sleeping underneath it as it's quiet and he likes the lights - last year I just accepted it and bought a furry tree skirt.
