Is there a declutter for Christmas thread?

Hello,

We’ve got a bit of renovating going on at home, at the same time my DC have outgrown a lot of toys and it feels like a good time to have a really good declutter.

All our bedrooms are being redecorated, so I’d love to have declutterred really well to move back in to cosy rooms in time for Christmas.

Is anyone else doing a deep clean/declutter on the count down to the holidays? Or is there a thread I might have missed?

hoping to stay motivated to get it all done in time and share some inspo for lovely bedding, PJs and decor!

Sounds a great idea for a thread @ShittyGlitter . I need to do some serious decluttering. I keep trying, but my efforts keep getting detailed by DH, who firmly believes the best place for tools, little bits and bobs and anything he may occasionally need is out on the nearest surface or table!

Sounds like a really good thread idea, I'd love to join you. DD has just started school and grown out of a lot of her younger toys.

I'm not a big decorator but we don't have a lot of storage space so it can all feel very cluttered when the tree goes up.

Haha @Confusedmeanderingsmy DH is the same everything gets left on any horizontal surface because he’s always just about to use it, even though it’s been there all week.

@DillyDeclutterwe have limited storage space too, I’m hoping we can invest in some better furniture or built in cupboards to help give everything a home.

Today I’m tackling my DD14s room, shes been good about boxing up some things for charity and she’s put aside some things to list on Vinted. If I can get through her clothes/list her Vinted things/do a charity shop run I’ll be chuffed!

I love putting the tree up and all the decor, but by January 1st my eye balls are itching at all the visual clutter 🥲

I need to go into this with a minimalist approach before Santa (or my MIL) arrives and fills the house again.

If there's a group doing this with a theme or prompt each week for decluttering I am so in. I have adhd so whereas intentions are there, motivation and action is lacking. something like this would help keep me on track and be like woo let's go girls lol 😆

Just a heads up that there’s a long running Christmas Clean-Along thread too https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/christmas/5152551-christmas-cleanalong?page=28

Definitely create your own thread though if it keeps you motivated and going. I’m terrible about consistency (yay also ADHD) so I totally get needing the accountability. 🙂

Hi all. So for the first time ever I will be hosting Christmas Day dinner in my home. And to that end, I've decided to give my house a massive...

I’m decluttering too. my biggest problem is shifting the stuff I’ve decluttered though.

The charity shops in my local town have signs up at the moment saying they’re not accepting toys.

I’ve got bags of stuff just sitting around my house and in my car!

We have just the one charity shop in our small town, and I went on Wednesday to be met with a sign saying they were full and weren't taking any donations at all just now. The stuff is still in my car.
