Present ideas for older teens

DC will be 17 this Christmas and for the first year I'm at a bit of a loss for what to get her. She has a p/t job that pays well so buys her own clothes and make up. Hobbies seem to have dropped off recently, other than some sports commitments which she doesn't need anything for.

She is keen to learn to drive, then travel then go off to uni - but that won't be for another year.

I've always had brilliant gift inspiration from these threads so would love ideas from parents who have experience of late teen Christmasses. Oh and she still loves a stocking!

Driving lessons will go down a storm

Stockings for my teen DD are SO easy…. Premium make up, toiletries etc that usually out of her price range. Few jokey bits. The white company cashmere socks. And some lovely stationary and usually a gift card

Well easy then…. Driving lessons!

Surely driving lessons is the obvious one-that’s what each of mine got for their 17th.

Does she like music? I'm getting my teen DD some vinyl records this year as well as a band t-shirt she loves.

That's a good shout, yes she loves music and going to gigs.

Yes she'll get lessons for her birthday (which is between now and Christmas), so I don't want to repeat that.

I do love doing stockings. She buys a lot of make up so an upgrade on her usual is a good idea.

Does she enjoy reading?
Any of her favourite authors got new books coming out?
Nice editions of old favourites?
