i thought we could use a thread for ideas on kids Christmas presents and stocking fillers.
Mine are quite young so I will be doing the good old fidget toys, colours, slime etc for the stocking fillers.

If you have any great suggestions would you mind sharing links, please?

I am loving this thread. Some great ideas! I am also interested to know if you wrap your items in your stocking? I will do a mix of both, leaving all food items unwrapped (kinder egg, choc coins, satsuma) and prob blind bag and tooth brush unwrapped. Then thinking of wrapping all the other bits in xmas tissue paper and a fun xmas sticker.

No we have never wrapped DD stocking. My mum never wrapped mine and I didn’t see the point in creating extra work!

I always wrap them, I like doing it though and I enjoy seeing the anticipation as they try and guess what's underneath the paper.

I got a mini vintage camera keyring (Kodak) yesterday. My first Christmas purchase for my DD (13).
I think it needs a sim card so I’ll need to look at it properly.

can i please have the link. Thanks

My DS (14) has just said that he both loves and hates stockings - saying they are really fun but he gets fed up of annoying tat cluttering up his room! So we’ve agreed that Father Christmas will be a bit more ‘intentional’ this year! So less things, but more ‘proper’ things. Things I’ve planned to get / have got are touch screen Nike gloves, a trainer cleaning kit, a multi way charger cable, favourite chocolate, phone case, passport cover with his initial on (Primark), a plush key ring (a pickle!), a card game (maybe flip 7), glasses case, probably a fidget/squishy. Probably will find some other bits too!

Younger DS is getting character pants, mochi squishies, a paperback book, bike bell and bike spokes, some pokemon magnets, a cuddly toy, a sequin Michael Jackson glove 😀, playmobil character, something for the bath like bath foam or a bath bomb, sleep eye mask. And probably some other random blind bag type things and some sweets or chocolate.

stockings are really fun to do!

@MinnieMountainwhoopie cushion is such an underrated toy!

I picked up a mini UNO card game on a keyring for £1.49 from Home Bargains

Sostrene grene is a great place for stocking fillers for young and old.

This year they have cute little gingerbread biscuits that slot on the rim of your mug. I also got a box of 'toy diamonds' - perfect treasure for a princess (or pirate).

DD (14) is a percussionist. I’ve got her some pens that look like drumsticks.

The M&S £8 fragrances are popular with DD and her friends.

DS(18) always gets guitar strings, new boxers and largely edible stocking fillers.

Following as having to do stocking fillers for children of bereaved family for the first time

I'm so sorry for your loss ❤️

On a practical note before you start shopping: find out if the children already have stockings that they use every year, and if so what size they are. Some of the stocking fillers I always see suggested (eg books) are far too big for the stockings we have. The children might also be used to certain things being in a stocking - we always have chocolate coins and a Lindt Santa in ours every year, and a stocking would feel incomplete without them.

Really good ideas everyone, thank you! My kids have got into Bob's Burgers this year, so I'll be looking on Redbubble/Etsy for some related things: stickers, badges, and the like. Foam shower gel is also a great shout, if I can find some small enough...

Flying Tiger is a great shop to look in for things - one of our best stocking gifts was a handheld disco ball (essentially a torch with a disco ball on the end).

Any ideas for an autistic teenage boy?

I have one of these myself and I have accepted that he does NOT want surprises, or things I think he’d like based on 20 other things he likes. Formulaic but it’s chocolate, novelty socks/boxers, Lego blind bags, some kind of fidget toy, toiletries, charging cable, keyboard cleaning putty and lens wipes - useful stuff that will get eaten/used up and I would have replaced anyway (I guess that he can see the point of), interspersed with a couple of cooler things. It’s really hard when they have very definite ideas (that you can never quite clarify) but for us the monotony helps. Not as fun to shop for, but I’ve learnt it avoids some of the stress!

So I guess I’m saying - don’t get too hung up on putting loads of effort and thought into it if that isn’t what works for him. I hope you understand how that’s meant.

JustJoinedRightNow · 18/10/2026 10:47

I got one of those little plastic gift boxes off Temu that has heaps of little screws so they need to unscrew it to get inside. I put money in. The idea was that it would give me a bit more time to sleep because they had to work out how to open it (the little screwdriver tool was hidden inside the bow on top). But then older teen figured it out and told the younger one so they opened them in no time 🤦🏻‍♀️

Scout2016 · 19/10/2026 12:36

@AliasGrape my friend recommended Flip 7 and there's a Nightmare Before Christmas version coming out which I have ordered

Other card things I'm taking a punt on are ecapse room type card games and a pack of cards with "magic tricks" instructions and a pack of card sized images with optical illusions on. I explained that badly, sorry. This

I've just bought a couple of Traitors shield badges - think they'll amuse my kids and maybe get used in play too.
