"Vintage" toys?

Ive decided this year to get some Christmas gifts for my daughter that are 2nd hand, mostly off vinted.

I bought a Peter Pan set that is "vintage" from 2003. I had one like this growing up, so thought it would be a nice addition to toys.
Anyway, after looking online it says old toys from before 2005 are unsafe for children and that there are dangerous phalates and other nasties in the plastic. And that plastic this old degrades and is bad for children.

She will be 33 months by Christmas so won't nesscarily be mouthing the toys But I'm concerned as some paint has chipped off and some little bits of the trees and boulders have chipped a bit.

Is this actually something to be concerned about, I wasn't before goggling but now unsure!?!

My two children (2 & 6) frequently play with my toys from the 80s/ 90s. I don’t see any harm in it, they aren’t eating them.
If I were you I’d go ahead and buy the toys that you want for them. My children often prefer the toys from my childhood to their current toys.

I think it depends on the toy.

My parents kept plenty of my toys for my nieces to play with when they visited and the things were still there when DD was born.

We have tons of Lego from the 1980s and they were in great shape when DD got her hands on them.

But cheaper stuff like some play food, tea sets, Barbies, building blocks were thrown away as it felt the plastic brittled so I think it really depends. I wouldn't buy anything unseen.

I would also be careful with painted wooden toys at that age, some items were ok when DD was older and not putting everything in her mouth but baby toys weren't handed down. You don't know what paint was used.
