Best Christmas days out Lancashire

Hi,

Please can I have your recommendations for best days out with 8 year old boy Lancashire / could go Bolton / Manchester.

Tatton Park had some great Christmas experiences last year. Definitely enough there to fill a whole day.

No really a full day activity but we went to RHS Bridgwater for the glow lights last year which was lovely!

Brockholes is great. Not sure what they've got planned for Christmas yet ...

Blackpool illuminations. I know MN hates Blackpool despite the majority having never been but you could do a lot worse over the winter period than going for a walk, beach, fish and chips and then drive through the illuminations when it gets dark, which is about 4 pm at Christmas.

Just keep it in mind as something to do on a day when the weather isn't too bad. Relatively low cost and no need to book in advance either.

I think the illuminations finish before Christmas.

Blackpool illuminations finish on January 3rd 2027.

If you can manage to pop just over the border to Cumbria then Sizergh Castle has a Christmas light trail that is miles cheaper than Dunham Massey etc
