Any thoughts on this year’s colour trends?

Christmas topic obviously!
I’m planning to have a sort through my stash of decorations, and pull a colour scheme for the tree. We have lots of individual ornaments collected over the years, and plain baubles in several colours which fill in the gaps.

Inspire me with your colours and themes. I’m torn between all red/burgundy and full-on circus brights!

I have done the classic gold, red and green but I am torn as to if to lean a bit more into the darker burgundy red which seems more on trend. Or go a bit more woodland introducing dried orange slices and pine cones and getting our my wooden woodland decs...

I like a pretty plain tree with everything the same colour. Over the last few years I’ve had pale pink, navy and last year it was white and iridescent baubles.
I just pack the tree with various sizes/textures and place the iridescent ones to catch the light. I usually have the same coloured baubles to match the livingroom but I’ll keep the white ones as they go with any colour.

Last year we did a 'chuck it all on and hope for the best' theme.

Previous year was all woodland wildlife etc, ivy, owls, berries, cones etc. Year before that was a Nutcracker fest.

I'm slowly attempting to collect enough ornaments to do a kind of Faberge / vintage Russian inspired tree, but baubles are fairly hard to come by.

All sound gorgeous. If I had the space I’d have more than one tree and theme each one differently.

I'm a bit of a 90's xmas decore fan, especially while the kids are small and bring numerous multicolored decorations home from school/nursery. I just love that bring, warm, colourful happy feeling

One year I had two trees: one was all the stuff our Christmas tree has (there are certain things that have to be on the tree, including terrible decorations made by the DC) and the other was red and gold. These days, I find doing one tree is quite enough! My late DM always had two trees, a main one in the sitting room, and a smaller one in the hall that just had lights and chocolates and candy canes for the DGC.

I tend to stick to traditional Christmas colours.
The tree slightly evolves each year. Last year I bought lots of small baubles from the charity shop, mainly in gold and I'm going to tie them on with ribbon again, probably red. I will have tinsel too! But very good tinsel, probably again from the charity shop. I moved last year and lots of houses round here seem to go for very traditional red and gold.
They all looked beautiful in the windows so I am feeling inspired by those again.
We have a bit of an animal theme in general and I like to add Gisela Graham and felt type animals with a new one or two each each year.
We have always had coloured lights since children but I might go back to white this year.
I've definitely moved away from a rustic feel to more shine and glamour and I think I'll continue to head in that direction this year.
Colour wise I'll be staying with red and gold as the base with colourful additions.

Last year my local charity shop had a lot of baubles but not until very close to Christmas. People may have been donating them as they decorated?
Lots of retro ones and glass too which I love.
Gisela Graham does large individual baubles.
I've also found glass ones from the 1950s in vintage shops.

I think i’m going to go traditional red, green & gold. It’s been a while since I’ve done that.

I think it will be brown. I bought a new tree in the Jan sale. My last few real trees were disappointing. Ours are mainly sparkly gold and cream.

I have another smaller tree with funny ornaments from the kids being small eg. Holiday / santa / advocao type.

Mine will be the usual coloured lights and all colours on it (except blue). Our decorations are mostly ones collected from places we’ve been and they’re random. It’s a bit of a hotch porch but I like it.

We have another small flocked pre-lit tree but I don’t really decorate it. I usually clip on a couple of robins, then it a gold star on top and leave it as it is as it’s so pretty.

Im having a garden office built right now and will be able to put a tree in there too. For that I’m thinking a white tree and jewel tone decorations maybe.

Thanks, I have lots of regular baubles; the ones I'm looking for would be like Faberge eggs, or similar to the shapes of the domes of St Basil's Cathedral in Moscow.

I haven't clocked that there are themes! I wish I had a gold or silver foil tree like the one my parents had when I was very young, but I already have a dispoable tree. It's in it's 5th year. I started out with all tasteful soft white lights, then decided this isn't us at all. We have the loud green/red/gold/blue lights and mid century style ornaments - our tree topper is "impressive", so we are no longer tasteful. and I'm guessing we aren't trendy, but it makes us so happy. It goes up December 1st, then DH and I usually tussle over when it can come down - I like it to come down by NYE, he likes it up for a while longer - we did this last year and I really liked it. Ahhh, christmas and cooler weather, can't wait!

We do orange/brown/bronze/woodland for October for the autumn tree then it all gets taken off mid November and it turns into the Christmas tree - red & gold.

@dudsvillewe did similar. My tree started with warm white lights and only red white and gold.
Then I added green. Then tartan.
Then we went on a road trip across parts of Europe and I started picking up baubles from every stop and it’s all gone downhill from there 😂
My mum was horrified about 5 years ago when I switched to coloured lights but I don’t care, it makes me think of my Nans tree when I was little (my mum is a staunch white lights with red and gold decorations only person - she is similarly horrified by my sisters tree which alternates between white & blue decs with cold white lights, silver & pink with pink lights and grinch with green lights )

I'm going for a green gold and cream/white theme this year as we painted our living room sage and I thought it would be nice!

We have mini trees in the kids bedrooms so they can put on Decs they like (you know the 1 foot kind you can stick on a desk or in the corner) x

I tried a similar colour scheme a few years back and it looked lovely.

Mind you, after several days of looking at it and thinking 'there's something missing here but I can't put my finger on it' I added a few red ornaments as well.
