DS is really into football, computer games, Lego and puzzle-y things like Rubik’s cubes and fidgets.

But the problem is he already has absolutely loads of stuff to do with all those things already and I’m really stuck for ideas!

New bike
It is our summer then too.

For ds it was -

Expensive Footie boots (grass or Astro depending on what he didn’t have)
Our Local Team strip (in Scotland)
English team strip (Chelsea)
offical Football (think it used to be the European cup one they all coveted then - was £30 for the ball 12 years ago no idea what it would be now!)

Always a new board/card game to play together over Christmas

Does he have 'top bins?'

ACynicalDad · 04/08/2026 03:27

I’ll give them a good summer, then see what he’s into in October/November (ir more likely December) far too much will change in next 5 minus to decide now.

Ds’s birthday is before Christmas and he’s getting:
Subbuteo
Air hockey table
Perplexus
Lego Monkey Palace Game
Lego Chain Reactions

IHaveQuestionsLotsOfQuestions · 04/08/2026 10:19

Ooh Subbuteo is a good shout. Yes he already has Top Bins!
Maybe he’ll be into something else by December. It just suddenly feels not that far away.

Mine will be 9 at Christmas but we’re thinking of getting a monitor so he can use his Switch in his bedroom.
He’s obsessed with maps and world geography so I want to try and find some giant map posters or map themed gifts, he already has a giant world map jigsaw puzzle in a frame that he loves and multiple books.
I think he’d really enjoy some science kits like the make your own volcano type ones so that’s an idea I’ve got.

My youngest is 10 and he likes anything Xbox related, probably a onesie, new trainers, lego, maybe a football kit etc. I feel stuck for ideas most of the time.
