Prepping ideas for tween/teen girls

For our preppers what are you looking at getting teen/tween girls?

usually I have ideas what to stock up on through out the year but I can’t think of anything this year.

DDs 12 & 14 - both like clothes & cosmetics

14yo very into fashion so I’m worried about jumping the gun on this front as she can change her style like the wind. Dosnt need electric tools, she has a nice hairdryer & straighteners and saved up for her own multi styling tool. Has an iPad & phone and projector for her room which was redone last year with everything a teen girl wants.

12yo similar but different tastes, very K-pop Y2K style. I offered to get her a hair dryer and straighteners for her birthday but she’s happy with my old ones. She’s growing so I’m worried buying clothes in advance. Even as a small child never liked toys, been obsessed with makeup since she was about 4yo. She has an abundance of it and hair/makeup styling dolls she practices on. Very creative and arty but has everything she needs here.

All DDs got new vanities, lovely dressing gowns, accessories and things for their rooms last year so they don’t need any of that stuff. Our house is like a library so no books and hobbies/activities are covered.

So far I’ve only got a few cosmetic bits, last years Christmas gifts sets I got in clearances and a Pandora charm each.

Also tips on popular teen brands shops to look at would be great x

Sorry no ideas of my own but I am following as DD will be 11 at Christmas!

She has her own interests so will be guided by that, but she will appreciate some trending things too.

My arty dd really liked:

  • a “daylight lamp” for her desk which means she can have the light at whatever level is comfortable. I got it from Hobbycraft in a sale really cheap!
  • a subscription to Spotify for a year
  • a novelty foot muff
  • an ipencil and help to set up an app that allows dd to be creative with her iPad

I’ve just bought one of the little mini Kodak key chain cameras. I think it needs a SIM card now though!

FunnyOrca · 19/06/2026 20:40

They sound like they have a lot of what they need. What about experiences?

aespa are coming to the UK early 2027, if they are to your younger dd’s K-Pop tastes?

Or something at the V&A to satisfy their interest in fashion? I can’t see much for 2027 yet, but if you have a browse you can see what kind of things they might be interested in seeing or learning more about.

Are they into skincare at all?
Bamboo make up remover pads
cute face cloths
headband
wrist cuffs
Travel sizes (maybe diy with reusable travel containers?)
sheet masks

Mine of similar ages are getting

Money
Jewellery advent
Fragrance gift set/edit
Nice pyjamas
Fancy Chocolates
Beauty edit

Beauty advents are great gifts too, lots of different price ranges,- I think Boots start at around £70 and I usually pick up the SpaceNK for myself which I think was £260ish last year? I stock up on the bits I need and there are lots of brands that they like so they get quite a bit in theor stockings from that. The Christmas Beauty edits are always pretty good too.

Thanks for the responses

@FunnyOrca We did a big trip to London last year and hit all the big attraction’s, we aren’t close so it would be a big trip to visit the V&A. We’ve got a lot of the accessories and minis, some of the bits I’ve already bought are minis. I’ve been gradually moving to reusable bamboo pads for the whole house.

Will definitely look out for K-Pop concerts for my 12 yo. For her birthday she got comic con and her fav celeb autograph tickets.

the mini camera looks good, I have considered them before. My youngest has one of those black and white printable ones she loves so i will sound them out if their keen on them @searchforthesun

@psuedocream3 they have had cheap W7 calander, I’ve never been able to afford or feel justified in spending the price of some of the big ones. I know they would love a SpaceNK one and have considered splitting one between them.

PJs are a must every year, not necessarily Xmas themed but they always get nice new ones. We fill stockings with chocolate/favourite sweet treats each year.

In terms of brands I think Bubble skincare, Byoma and Summer Fridays are popular with tweens/teens. The first two also designed with young skin in mind, so shouldn't set off any reactions from over use of skincare, which I think can be an issue. Sol de Janeiro still in for that age group. If you are near the Bullring in Birmingham there is a Pure Seoul and Moida k-beauty shops and I'm sure even more options if you are in London. In non-beauty jelly cat still seems to be popular. Would they like some cute stationary from Kenji?

JillThePlantKiller · 20/06/2026 00:11

I had to give up prepping around these ages because they became very specific about what they wanted and did. not. want.

I couldn’t keep up with which brands were highly desirable one minute and then completely cringe.

I started saving to a Christmas fund on my Revolut account every time I was tempted to buy something.

T1mesAreHardForDreamers · 20/06/2026 09:10

Yes that's a good point about specific things they want.

My daughter is arty too, am thinking of getting her a digital drawing pad bit she really likes physical art supplies so hopefully if she is still into that, I can just go mad at Hobbicraft!

ITSSSSCHRISTMASSS · 20/06/2026 10:33

@JillThePlantKiller ultimately I know deep down I’m going to have to do this, it just goes against my nature of wanting to be prepared and organised and not paying full retail for something if I can help it 😬

O I like those, I think they might be a good call for my youngest whose always asking me what to draw next.

I was getting DD a pandora charm and spotted they have some Christmas charms on sale so got one as the big item for her advent calendar (she has one with pockets that I fill)

TheGirlWhoLived · Today 13:21

I’ve got a couple of ideas for my girls of similar ages and interests.

DD1 will be 16 at Christmas and is a bit more alternative than dd2:

Vinyl player and vinyls
Posters/art for room
Hollister clothes
Carolina Herrera Good Girl Perfume
Mac make up bits
Converse in yet another colour!
Abbott Lynn Jewellery
Botanical Lego (the new fun aloe plants and things)
Interesting Snacks/Drinks. Some American, Japanese and Korean bits
Journal and bits for it (stickers, washi tape etc)

DD2 (12) is more mainstream, TikTok trend

Mini beauty fridge for her room
Room decor/plants
Y2K clothes, usually shein or new look
Uggs, whatever is in fashion this year!
Accessorize or Primark jewellery
Skincare bits, not sure what she’ll be into by then
Fidget toys of every size shape and colour

She’ll have a new obsession by then so I’ll be directed by her
