New Years Eve plans with 5 year old and 2 year old in the North East , does anyone have recommendations of things to do or even somewhere to stay over night locally to make it special , it will just be the three of us.

The north east is a big area! What part will you be visiting?

I follow this lady, on SM. Although it is last year’s it will give you some ideas to follow up for 2026.
There will also be an updated version released.

Also adding that Ripon has fireworks at midnight, in the market square, following a candlelight procession from the cathedral. Great community event. The Ripon Inn is a 5 minute walk. Restaurants in Ripon and at the Inn are family friendly.

I cannot help with things to do but definitely staying overnight nearby is a good plan.
Your DC will be up late and tired after , and getting out of a planned display takes ages .
We went to the London NYE fireworks a few years ago , getting out of the viewing area and back to the station took far longer than I'd thought .(My DC were teens )
Are your DC good with fireworks ? Noise and crowds ?
