Does anyone have the bauble storage? Is it any good?

I have mine in plastic boxes in tissue paper or bubble wrap.

I wondered if I bought specific storage it would take up less room?

We have an old mini suitcase that I bought from a flower market in about 2005. The baubles are wrapped in tissue paper and stored in the suitcase.

It's not this one, but looks quite like it...

It works quite well.

The photo will take a moment to be moderated and load.

Yes! I love it. I can take a picture later if you like?

Oh I love that suitcase. Wonder what lining it has!

I've got too many decorations for that I think.

I have some bauble boxes similar to these

Added. They are cardboard with dividers in and work well

i can’t for the life of me figure out how to get a link from my Amazon app but it’s this…fits loads!

Thankyou everyone.

What do people do for non standard baubles and tree decorations? Eg larger baubles or odd shapes like dinosaurs etc?

Also do people keep and use original boxes that some of these decorations come in or do you recycle these?

I have a storage box like the one above. I also keep the original boxes for some special ones and the rest are wrapped in tissue paper or bubble wrap and stored in a plastic crate.
and yes I’m fully aware I have far too many Christmas decorations

ByQuaintAzureWasp · 10/01/2026 21:20

Weve put ours in a lauthwaites wine box ... pretty perfect tbh.

FairViewRosie25 · 10/01/2026 21:35

Just keep various tins / chocolate boxes. Still got the original boxes our baubles came in 27 years ago.

BiddyPopthe2nd · 11/01/2026 09:58

I have 2 boxes which have individual slots for baubles - each has a removable top layer, so take roughly 48 each (they’re in storage in a different country at the moment). And more are wrapped in tissue paper in plastic tubs.

Here, I bought an Amazon bauble storage box which is less sturdy but holds about 60. And have more wrapped in tissue paper in a plastic tub.

I also kept original boxes for specific decorations and for my tiny baubles and plastic balls etc.

cariadlet · 11/01/2026 10:17

I've got 2 old cardboard boxes for Christmas decorations. The baubles and other tree decorations are in a carrier bag in the box.
Very basic and old school but I've had them for a couple of decades and nothing's got broken.

ShodAndShadySenators · 11/01/2026 16:50

Mine are in large cardboard boxes, the kind you buy for house removals. They're quite large boxes with inserts/dividers that I've made from cutting up cardboard boxes (we get loads of deliveries so I always have some available). There's three layers in each box, with the top layer having smaller inserts for the smallest baubles, the middle for the medium sized ones and the biggest on the bottom. It is quite time consuming making the inserts but it's satisfying to do and I haven't had a single bauble broken ever.

I like the storage boxes PPs have linked to but I have quite a few ornaments which are odd shapes or sizes, so regular inserts won't work for those.

I've also got those plastic transparent crates, with plenty of bubblewrap you can store loads. I've one for the kitchen tree with its foodie baubles, one for vintage/antique ones we inherited, one for the felt/wool/wood/plastic or metal decorations including the tree topper, and one for mantlepiece decor, ceramics and lanterns, etc etc. I have rather too many Christmas decorations, I know.

So do I!

I've got one one of the storage cubes with dividers, 4 layers with 16 in each layer, the dividers are flexible to some extent and I have removed a section in one layer for our long baubles (we have a Big Ben and a few others). This goes inside a much larger Really Useful box and the non-breakable ones go loose in the box next to the packing cube, with the tree tinsel, tree fairylights and fairy. Then we have a second similar Really Useful box for the non-tree things, some of which are in their own original boxes. All tinsel is rolled up and put in sandwich bags to compact it and stop it getting tangled. It has taken me many, many years to arrive at this system but it is really satisfying and far better than previous jumbled efforts.

To many Christmas decorations is impossible! I have 3 trees.....

I struggle to throw away a good biscuit tin 🤣 so I use them to store decorations.

JDM625 · 12/01/2026 21:56

Majority of my baubles go back it their original boxes. The ones that don't have a home are single ones gifted to me and get wrapped in bubble wrap then put inside a shoe box- but there aren't that many. With some cardboard, you could make some basic dividers for any size of bauble, which would take up less space than wrapping in bubble wrap.

All mine then get put into clear, plastic crates which are labelled on multiple sides and stored in the loft till the following year.

EconomyClassRockstar · 13/01/2026 02:40

I just chuck them in a Hefty plastic storage box with lid. One for the living room tree and one for the 2 family room trees. None of the glass ornaments have ever been damaged in them.

Or you could take my mother's approach. Use an artificial tree, fold it down with the decorations still on and wrap that in bubble wrap.

I've got those and they save so much time. I have been collecting christmas tree decorations for 45 years and honestly this was a game changer. Most of my baubles fit in for the main tree, no unwrapping tons of stuff from tissue paper/ 6 different boxes - it's all there and so easy to pick a bauble and put it on the tree. I now only keep a few crystal decorations in their original boxes. Saves a ton of time packing away as well. This year I treated myself to a second one for my other tree (and to keep spare baubles in) as sometimes I use different baubles.

The only drawback is that we can't get them up in our loft (they don't fit through the hatch) so have to keep them in the spare room.

Primaris · 19/01/2026 12:48

Mine are all shapes and sizes so just wrapped in tissue and stored in Ikea Samla boxes. I love that balsam hill box - definitely the dream. But in the meantime I really like unwrapping my baubles and wrapping them all up again to put away. Odd fish.

I bought a couple of these last year from Amazon and I think they are really good. You can leave out one of the dividers for bigger baubles, and you can fit several really small balls in one square. I found it SO much quicker to get the baubles out this year and pack them away again as they mostly didn’t need any wrapping.
