What can I do with my Christmas tree?

Just spotted on my bin leaflet that it'll get taken to landfill. I assumed it was being recycled!!

It's 6 feet tall.

Do I just let it go?

This is also kind of me looking for excuses to not get rid of it tonight (collection is tomorrow).

I do not have a compost heap and DP will not allow a dead tree in his car.

I think if your DP isn’t willing to pop it in the car then the bin service is the best one!

Locally to me they’re used to help reinforce the sand dunes, but I think that’s very very location specific 😂

If you have some gardening shears or clippers you could try cutting off the branches and reusing them in the house and garden. Buy yourself a small bunch of flowers and then bulk them out in vases by adding some Christmas tree branches, holly or anything else to hand. Or put a few winter flowering plants in outdoor pots and push some tree - or other - branches in to add height to the display. Or wedge the branches into a vase or jug or florists foam (oasis) along with holly if available and add some lights, fake berries or cuttings.

I think the needles are good for the soil but don't quote me on that!

Check if your local costal agencies have recycling schemes. I know ours use Christmas trees to help with maintaining the sand dunes

Donate it to a local zoo? Our local zoo gave all the animals xmas trees for enrichment last year…

Round here the animal sanctuary collects them I think the goats like to eat them

Some charities will collect and recycle trees for a donation. Birmingham hospice is taking ours :)
