Oven gloves fail - recommend good ones

So me and DH both burned our fingers through our rubbish oven gloves yesterday. Can anyone recommend a decent pair - I don’t care how much, I’ll save up and get them for next year.

The rubbish ones led to a Yorkshire Pud fail - thank god I’d some frozen ones in.

Anyone who doesn’t have burnt fingers this morning, please share.

Ours have silicone hand areas for handling food

I used gloves made for barbeque-ing, they are brilliant with long cuffs and silicone on the fingers. I think I got them from Amazon.

Brilliant, thank you all. Silicone seems to be the way to go.

And those Aga ones look fab - closest I’ll get to owning an actual Aga!

Weee they damp / wet?

I like the le creuset ones. They last ages.

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 26/12/2025 13:22

Definitely silicone. You can shove them in the dishwasher to clean them too.

I too was going to recommend the aga ones but @bilbodog beat me to it 😆

My daughter bought me these. They are smart and so well insulated, I could pick up the Sun!

No, just cheap and oven was super hot

Le Creuset.
Double sided so it doesn't matter which side you need to shove your hand in. I've had them for over a decade.

StuffingMyNuts · 26/12/2025 15:30

Silicone hands as PPs have mentioned. Total game changer.

macshoto · 26/12/2025 15:32

The AGA gauntlets are indeed fab. Mine are still in use after c.10 years, but which makes them OK value.

I agree with these. Mine (also a decade old) have a plastic membrane in them so they don't immediately become heat conducting if they get wet.

Aga ones are also good but I think the le Creuset ones are even thicker.

Definitely Le Creuset

Blarn · 26/12/2025 20:35

Yes, Le Creuset. I had those cream thick waffle ones, like school cooks used in the 80s, for a few years and they good and not to expensive. But Le Creuset ones are fab and really stop the heat. And wash well.

climbintheback · 26/12/2025 20:37

Morso for woodburners

Strollingby · 26/12/2025 20:42

Le creuset here too. Had an old pair that lasted years. When I went to replace them I couldn't find anything to match them so got another pair despite the expense.

Northbynorthbest · 26/12/2025 21:25

These silicone ones from Amazon are great.
