There are three books and a 4K DVD, which I’m going to purchase. I’ll have some money leftover, so I’ll keep that aside until there’s something else I want.

What about you?

Me and my husband got some money from my dad but we already bought a new shark hoover in the black Friday sales so it can pay for that 😂

Books, I keep a wishlist and my DCs buy from it, then if I get giftcards they are usually Amazon so I buy more of the books.

Had £4k off the parents, not sure yet.Stick it in my savings account I guess

Statsquestion1 · 26/12/2025 10:50

I’m so intrigued, what’s the dvd? I was under the impression you can’t buy dvds anymore now with the availability of streaming services etc

I got £150 from my mum and have ordered some Phlur perfume in the Space NK sale, and a not reduced jumper from Cos. I also have a £50 Boots card and two restaurant vouchers, one for £100 and one for £50, which will be nice to use in slow January/February.

This year has been expensive with kids going to uni and some house expenses. I would replace our dwindling savings.

TwinklyRoseTurtle · 26/12/2025 11:27

Surviving January 🤣 and I bought some new skincare

We have been incredibly fortunate. A friend of my DH’s brother (and my DH knows him) gave both DH’s brother and us each a £500 Sainsbury card (apparently, he made multiple millions on Bitcoin, but that’s still VERY kind of him as money doesn’t magically mean you’re required to give gifts like that). Things are a little tighter than his family or that family friend know, since my DH lost his job, and the money will be very, very appreciated for groceries.

DH has decide we will buy a a 3 drawer airfryer.

Meadowfinch · 26/12/2025 14:31

I have a £35 voucher. New undies I think. 😊

No, DVD's are still available.🤔 Just not in most high street retailers any more.
Not everyone streams, many (like us) still like a physical disc which means you are not dependent on subscription, BB connection, wifi or data.

Back to the OP's question.🎄
This year, vouchers were in short supply and physical gifts were almost universal.
Just one gift card, for a garden center which will be put to very good use in the Spring.👍

It’s the Criterion Collection edition of Double Indemnity. You can certainly still buy DVDs, the concept of physical media is having a resurgence these days! 😊

3 drawer air frier? I didn’t know these were a thing!

It’s our anniversary in a couple of days so we will use our Christmas money to pay for a hopefully lovely meal on the day. We have M&S vouchers too and those will just be spent on groceries probably

Crackersnap · 26/12/2025 15:31

The money I got for Christmas from family just went on a car repair. It's always the way with me. Get money and something breaks!

Ive just bought myself some new wellies and some hoof boots for my horse with my Christmas money. His footwear cost almost exactly 4x as much as mine…
