First bunch once dad's dad got here, so startsd about 10:30-11. Had to break off for cooking etc so took till about 12 in all.

Then dad's dad went to his mom's and DD and I went to my mom and dad. Opened our presents with mom at about 2, dad was sleeping (he is very poorly) so he had his about 5.

We still have more to come when we see my brother on the 27th, and my best mate on the 29th.

Stockings (young adult daughters) about 9 with tea and toast. Church at 11 then a scurry of turkey preparation with DD in charge of canapés. Champagne, nibbles and presents around 1

We’ve never opened tree presents until after Church. Stockings will have been earlier when they were younger.

Around 1pm, when youngest adult DS woke up and the older two arrived home. Very civilised these days! We had dinner around 6pm. It's been a nicely chilled day.

SoftBalletShoes · 26/12/2025 04:25

Growing up we opened our stockings first thing and then we were allowed to choose one present to open around breakfast time, which would usually be our "main" present. Then the rest of the presents would have to wait until after Christmas dinner, so we started on the pile under the tree around 3pm. There was an element of having to be a bit self-disciplined and to wait before we could have most of them. I'm divorced with no kids, but if I did have my own family, it would seem v odd to open all the presents in the morning!

stockpilingallthecheese · 26/12/2025 20:28

Stockings when we woke up at 7ish, then tree pressies once we had sorted the various animals, had breakfast and showered so 10ish. Took about an hour then had another batch mid afternoon when family arrived.

i love to take our time and spread it though the day. Never understand why you’d want to have a parent frenzy at the crack of dawn then have no more to open through the day 😁

TeamGeriatric · 26/12/2025 21:00

We do it all in one go before breakfast, this year managed to keep everyone in bed until after 7, so we started around 8am. Christmas is typically just us and my Mum, so we never have anyone arriving with presents later in the day.

Satsuma2 · 26/12/2025 21:03

Had none .

Cuwins · 26/12/2025 21:07

Stocking at home with my daughter at 6:30 then a couple of tree presents at home about 9. Off to my parents then tree presents there after lunch so about 1pm. Always used to be after lunch when we were kids.

TheChosenTwo · 26/12/2025 21:11

First dc arrived downstairs at 9:45, last 2 at 10:15. Stockings were opened the and tree presents soon after.
Further presents were opened later when guests arrived.
Covid Christmas we did stockings then breakfast, had a walk and then did tree presents in the afternoon, much preferred it that way round but we have a house full on a regular Christmas and not a massive living room so need to get our presents done early before they come.

Justbecauseyoucandoesntmeanyoushould · 26/12/2025 21:14

DC are adults. DH in a care home. We visited him first with gifts, even though he has no idea it's Xmas. DC and I didn't open presents until about 1pm.

notlisteningwithmother · 27/12/2025 12:31

Teen DCs stockings at around 8am. Breakfast at 9am, presents at 10.30 after everyone was washed and dressed - we had guests over Christmas queuing for a shower.

Cbeebiesismyworld · 27/12/2025 13:02

We did presents 9pm Christmas Eve, due to my work shifts. I was working 12 hour shifts Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, and didn’t want to miss the kids opening presents. They didn’t mind opening early Christmas Eve!

Miranda65 · 27/12/2025 13:04

About 2pm (no kids).

00deed1988 · 27/12/2025 13:09

7:45....I finished work at 7:30...it is usually as soon as we wake up.

PomandersandRedRibbon · 27/12/2025 13:09

Sunshineo · 27/12/2025 14:48

minsmum · 27/12/2025 14:58

We opened ours about 6pm yesterday

caringcarer · 27/12/2025 15:03

About 10.30. I waited for adult DS to arrive.

AgentPidge · 27/12/2025 15:05

Around 4pm, after lunch. When the dch were small until they were 30 they'd open their stockings on our bed early in the morning.

Natsku · 27/12/2025 15:05

We opened around 10, after breakfast. Then again at 3pm when Father Christmas brought the rest of the presents.
I forgot the chocolate oranges and put them under the tree after DS went to bed and he did not notice them, despite being sent to the tree to check if it needed water. I had to physically point them out to him to get him to notice them Grin

Christmaseree · 27/12/2025 14:51

Why was that?

Because he got me the liberty advent calendar so technically I opened mine every day in December.

FurForksSake · 27/12/2025 15:11

I guess a £275 advent calendar is a pretty good gift!
