And are you prepared and ready for tomorrow?

I finished prepping around 2.30am and it's all a bit of a mess. I didn't manage to make dessert (the person who was going to make cake for everyone has fallen ill), I have lost one of my presents for dh, the house needs a scrub before everyone gets here tomorrow at noon and I'm not happy with the kids' stocking. They don't have anything from their xmas wish list in them (as too small to fit any of the presents)

I'm not even sure it still is christmas eve. Isn't it just christmas day now?

Anyway merry christmas everyone. 😃

Merry Christmas to you too. 🎅I can't sleep. Too worried about being too tired to cook Christmas dinner which is keeping me awake...Go figure! 😂Going to try and go to bed again in a bit.
Sorry to hear you're having a tough time of it. Flowers What time do you think you'll get to bed, or not at all?

Stickytoffeetartt · 25/12/2025 03:02

The two eldest dc didn't go to sleep until almost midnight so I have just finished up the gifts and I'm really tired & grumpy now 😴 Let's hope we get through tomorrow okay! Merry Christmas 🎄

Thanks. I'm in bed but I dont feel like sleeping. I need to be up in 4h to start getting ready so I should probably put the phone away and sleep now. Hope the cooking goes well tomorrow and you will have a chance to relax at some point!

Did Christmas dinner Xmas Eve cos adult DS is going to friends tonight - Xmas Day - for dinner.

Nice to have it over with already. Boxing Day we are going to a restaurant.

It's 04.04 CET time.

Still got wash to do of course when I wake up late, etc.

I’m just done (UK)… but I did got to bed and wake up again at 2 to finish because knew kids would never get to sleep early enough. Mostly don’t, not totally happy but good enough and I’ve nibbled the carrot!

Going to bed in a few minutes. Eldest DS has just gone home and middle DD who is staying over for Christmas has gone up to bed. Youngest 2 aren’t home from nights out yet. Me and DH have had a takeaway curry, drank way too much wine and binge watched a few Christmas specials. Madame Blanc/All Creatures etc. I’m just waiting for the cat to appear at the patio door and let her in and then I’m off. Will be having a nice lie in in the morning. Nobody here gets up early - even if Santas been.

It’s been a lovely evening. DH works nights so I spend most evening by myself.

We are off to the pub for Christmas Dinner with our adult children and their families so no food prep for me 🎉

We used to host Christmas Dinner at ours every year but we have realised that it’s cheaper to eat out. £85 a head for the 2 of us is a hell of a lot less than the hundreds it costs to host. This way everyone pays for themselves . Plus it’s very nice to get dressed up and not to have to do any food prep/cooking and washing up afterwards.

Merry Christmas to all 🎁 🎄 🍷

We went to bed at midnight because my teens who usually don't like to spend much time with us were happily playing board games with us so I didn't want to tell them to go to bed. I've been awake since 4 (I don't sleep well) so today will be a long day.

whatohwhattodo · 25/12/2025 06:33

I went to bed about 9.30 as knackered. My teen said you go to bed I’ll tidy kitchen which was nice of her. I woke at 1.30 and put stockings outside room (I had prepped them about 7.30last night)

just thinking I should go and put rest of presents downstairs.

Teen dc 15 and myself went to bed just after 1am and hes still asleep so ite been bliss getting coffee, pottering about and ready and dressed. I'm leaving him to waken on his own. Dh is relaxing and also enjoying the peace and quiet. Adult dc have text to say merry Christmas as they have plans for their own Christmas this year. Once teen is up will be watching him open his gifts and enjoying the day with our meal and spending time together watching a movie tonight with a few drinks. I must admit I'm absolutely loving the more quiet, relaxed Christmas now more than ever.

Heyhelga · 25/12/2025 10:04

Went to bed at 10.30. got woken up at 6.45 by ds. I don't understand it, yesterday morning he didn't climb out of bed till gone 10....

notlisteningwithmother · 25/12/2025 10:12

I have a thing about Christmas eve and love it when I'm the only person awake! Extended family dinner followed by Carols from Kings, then mince pies before heading out to midnight Mass. Everyone else went to bed when we got home but I set the table for breakfast, filled stockings and sat in a comfy chair next to the Christmas tree with a mug of tea, listening to music. Went to bed around 2am but by choice - quiet end to the day.

Namechange8240 · 25/12/2025 11:47

DD was asleep by about 9.15pm, I'd finished getting stuff sorted by about 10.30pm, but stupidly didn't go to bed until nearly midnight, after which it took me a while to go to sleep and then DD woke up at 5.43am 😴

(We had to wake DS at 7am, bless him... That was as long as we could realistically make DD wait before going downstairs!)

Elphamouche · 25/12/2025 11:52

I went up at 1, DH came in at 4 as he’s deep cleaned the kitchen and put all my presents out. DD woke at 4.30 - very unlike her. Turns out her room was cold so she was with us until 8 - we don’t co sleep so I was awake, then managed to get her back to bed and woke her at 10. Long day ahead!

Hope everyone has had a chance to rest and relax now. The madness is over!!

I'm trying to take it super easy. Christmas day was lovely but insanely busy. Now we are Mostly staying at home except for a walk or the playground and we are playing a lot of board games.
