This year we have decided to not really do big presents for each other and have set a low limit for small gifts.

Its only DH and I on Christmas day.

What have you bought your DH this year?

Nothing. We write nice cards to each other and enjoy each other’s company.

I’ve bought dh sports gear and books and some of his favourite treats. If I was in your position and it was just us two I’d probably book a nice trip somewhere.

Bottle of whisky, Hermes eau de toilette set, Armani after shave balm, table foot ball.

Jk987 · 23/12/2025 21:48

Why wouldn’t you buy a gift? Some chocolates or bottle of something? A book, nice shower gel, anything to open?

A copper saucepan

Screenager · 23/12/2025 21:49

Running jacket and trainers. That is all… but set me back £480

We've decided to put most of what we'd usually spend on gifts into the holiday fund.
We are still getting gifts but smaller than usual.

A new backpack
A thermal mug
Thermal socks
A bottle of whisky
A small bottle of hot sauce.

All for his hobbies of watching cricket and rugby

We decided against gifts this year as we have a big house project coming up. But I found out he got me a box of chocs from M&S from the kids so I got him:

4 beers
A big bar of chocolate
A bag of fancy crisps

Nothing exciting but he'll appreciate it.

We've set a £50 limit as we'll spend money on a weekend away in the new year instead, but I've bought him some nice bits - a record, a book, some fancy matches for lighting the fire, nice socks, and a stainless steel jug for frothing milk.
I've also bought us all a game and tickets to go and see a comedy night in January.
If it's just the 2 of you on Christmas Day I would have thought a few nice thoughtful bits to open would be lovely.

Some clothes as he’s lost a lot of weight and needs a serious wardrobe intervention. A couple of PS5 games, some chocolates, and a F1 Lego car to build. And obligatory pants and socks for the year ahead!
