Sons dad not giving him a Christmas present

Do you think this is unreasonable?! For my son (age 13) dad not to give him a Christmas present because “he hasn’t seen him much this year”

for context, they have adopted another child and IMO have stopped making an effort with my son. My son said dad is always drunk when he goes there, has a “go at him” and makes him babysit the new child, so doesn’t want to go there as much.

Completely unreasonable.

Bit shocked he's been approved for adoption based on that.

If this is true then it needs referring to social services as he does not sound suitable to adopt a vulnerable child.

I was thinking the same, the presents are secondary. Your son and the new child should be being looked after properly.

At 13 he should be able to make his own decision about whether he wants to see his father

Does it make him a shit dad... yes.

Can you change that... no.

You can’t control the uncontrollable.

My 13 year old son isn’t getting a gift from his dad either, it sucks doesn’t it.

He moved across the country and started a new family and isn’t even bothering to see DS this year.
