Netflix film and crackers

I'm finishing off my wrapping with trashy Christmas films in the background and have nearly lost my mind over seeing how crackers are pulled in A Kind-Hearted Christmas on netflix.

Has anyone else seen it? The characters pull their own cracker. Surely no one pulls a cracker this way?

How old is the film? Maybe it was filmed during Covid so they had to pull their own crackers

Its American, crackers aren't really a thing there so they probably just went with what they thought was right.

Total blasphemy of course, the best part of crackers is nearly yanking your sibling off their chair and then fighting over the best hats.
