Hi,
Has anyone bought this turkey this year? It's frozen with all the trimmings. It says Extra Tasty on it. It was £26. I'm panicking as it says it has black pepper marinade which I know some people won't like as it will likely cause bad tummies to occur! I can't return it obviously. It says to cook from frozen but I thought turkeys need to be defrosted before cooking.

Is anyone in your house actually allergic to black pepper? I can't see why a peppery marinade (it will be very mild, tbh) would cause bad tummies. You really shouldn't defrost it if it says 'cook from frozen', just follow the instructions on the wrapping and it will be fine. It sounds delicious!

If it's the one I've just looked up, you can cook from defrost or frozen.

Why would the black pepper marinade cause bad tummies?

Some are cook from frozen- just follow the instructions and you’ll be fine.

Thanks so much. I should have said in my pp that the black pepper was in the smaller print which i didn't check as i was panicking! But yeah so nobody is actually allergic, just that my DF is always moaning about garlic and spices in foods making his stomach upset! I can't even miss out the black pepper as it's marinaded in it. Hopefully as you say, it will be mild!

It will be developed to be cooked from frozen it isn't the same as the .frozen turkey in a bag, regarding the black pepper I don't have a clue about you only know if it will cause upset to whoever is eating it if they are intolerant or not.

Ahh ok, you can cook from defrost if you want to.

I personally would because sometimes cooking from frozen can make it a bit uneven.

Once it’s got gravy poured over it he will likely not be able to taste the pepper. If he puts salt and pepper on his food anyway, just tell him he must have used too much. 😀

It's that age isn't it? He's 88! I knew it would be wrong. But I think smothering the meat with gravy and cranberry should disguise it!! 😆

The black pepper marinade will only be on skin so just carve her some from further into the bird.
