I have to ask! Does anyone else NOT do a stocking?

Just that really, my parents never did one so I don’t do one either? Anyone else?

Yes us! As kids we had presents in an old pillow case, big and small including a tangerine obviously. No extra stocking filled with random items that seem to be bought just for the sake of it? We do the same for our kids

I only do it for my youngest and he’s turning 17 on Tuesday. My older two are in their 30s and left home. I actually never did stockings for them, I was a single parent then and like you I had never had a stocking as a child, so it never occurred to me. But when I had youngest with dh he suggested we do it. When youngest leaves home there will be no more stocking I think.

This is exactly what we had as children and what I did with mine.

When I was a child it would have all the presents from everyone in it, including family who we'd seen Christmas Eve and who'd handed the gifts to us and we'd put under our tree when we got home.
There would be a main present from my parents and 3 or 4 other things from them.

My kids just had the presents from me, a main one plus maybe 5 or 6 other things, inc a selection box.

People often do what their parents did.
Traditions (or not) are different from each other.

I did have a stocking so it was part of Christmas for me, so it followed that I also did that for my children.

Yes same! Pillowcase, ours were left on the landing, all presents in that, kids didn’t get so much back then.

We don't do it.

I'm not from a culture where Christmas is celebrated with presents and DH never had one as a child so he didn't think to organise it for our DD.

We just had our presents in a pillowcase or bin bag under the tree when I was growing up, as far as I remember.

We’ve got some stockings now but they are more just overflow sacks. I tend to put smaller presents in, but sometimes the small presents are the expensive ones, not ‘stocking fillers’ as such.
